CANYON, Texas (November 2, 2024) – The Lubbock Christian men's basketball team got a 20-point performance from the bench, but fell 69-56 to the Saint Cloud State Huskies on Saturday at the First United Bank Center.

The Chaparrals (1-1) had two players score in double figures, led by Amondo Miller Jr., who had 16 points. Miller is the only Chap who has reached the double-figure scoring mark in both games this season.

Sean Murphy added a double-double off the bench with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Aaron Gonzales added five points and three steals.

Lubbock Christian pulled down 42 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Saint Cloud State's 36, led by Murphy's 11 boards. The Chaparrals also cleaned up the offensive glass, turning 17 rebounds into 10 second chance points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lubbock Christian struggled out of the gate, falling behind 40-22 heading into halftime. One day after shooting 8-for-9 from behind the arc, LCU hit on just two of their 11 three-point attempts in Saturday's opening period.

SCSU, meanwhile, was 6-11 on threes and 16-30, using the efficient shooting to build out the gap.

The Chap offense was clicking better after the break and they were able to cut the deficit to 12, but Saint Cloud State continued to shoot it well and eventually widenened the advantage to 69-45.

LCU closed the game on an 11-0 run, capped off by a three-pointer from Miller Jr.

» Sean Murphy notched a double-double for the Chaparrals with 14 points and 11 rebounds. It his first as a Chaparral. He had six last season at Nebraska-Kearney.
» Lubbock Christian lost despite a 42-36 rebounding advantage.
» 17 of LCU's rebounds came on the offensive glass. It is their most offensive rebounds in a single game since Nov. 19, 2016, when they pulled down 18 against Sul Ross.
» LCU shot 16 percent from behind the arc in the loss, their worst percentage since Feb. 2, 2023, when they were 1-for-16 (.063). That game was also at the First United Bank Center.
» This is the third-straight season that the Chaps have started 1-1.
