Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Patriots kept things close in the early goings, even leading by two just before the first media timeout. Caswell was hot to start though and scored nine points in the first six minutes play while Lubbock Christian took the lead for good.
Â
Still, it was just a four-point deficit for ABU with 10:20 left in the opening half. Duncan hit a three-pointer with 8:09 left to stretch the gap to eight, and Caswell hit from deep a minute later as the Chaps led by double-digits for the first time all night.
Â
LCU pretty much put the game out of reach for good with less than five minutes to go in the half. Duncan hit another three and sparked a 16-3 run before the break and led by 20 as the teams headed to their respective locker rooms.
Â
The Chaps didn't shoot it quite as well in the second half, but they also limited the Patriot offense a lot more and the gap continued to grow. More and more of the Lubbock Christian reserves entered into the game as the lead ballooned past 30 points at the 6:18 mark on a Thompson layup.
Â
With 3:19 left in the game, redshirt freshman Reagan Fiedler got the ball inside and split a pair of defenders to score his first collegiate points. Lubbock Christian scored one more time before the horn sounded on the dominant win.
