Foster, Robertson Power Lady Chaps to 66-52 Win Over Colorado Christian

Chaps Dominate the Boards and Secure a Big Win in the South Central Region Challenge

TYLER, Texas (November 9, 2024) – Grace Foster scored 23 points and Audrey Robertson added 21 and the No.17 Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals knocked off the Colorado Christian Cougars 66-52 at Saturday in LCU's final game at the South Central Region Challenge inside Herrington Patriot Center.
 
Foster and Robertson's stellar scoring performances led the Lady Chaps (4-0) in the contest. Foster, with a second consecutive double-double, tacked on 14 rebounds and three blocks and Robertson added five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Maci Maddox also helped out with 10 points and five assists.
 
Lubbock Christian collected 42 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Colorado Christian's 26, led by Foster's 14 boards. Lubbock Christian's defense held Colorado Christian to only 19 percent shooting from beyond the arc and 32.7% (17/52) from the field. The Cougars did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with five offensive rebounds and managed nine second chance points while Lubbock Christian cleared 33 defensive rebounds.
 
How It Happened
After falling behind 12-11, Lubbock Christian went on a 7-0 run with 2:17 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Reese Schumann, to take an 18-12 lead. They took an 18-17 advantage into the second period behind Robertson's 10 points (she was 2-of-2 in long range attempts).
 
Lubbock Christian kept its first quarter lead intact before going on a 5-0 run starting at the 9:44 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Foster, to increase its lead to 23-17. The Lady Chaps proceeded to tack on four points to that lead and enjoyed a 36-26 advantage heading into halftime. Lubbock Christian scored four of its 18 total points in the period on second-chance opportunities created by pulling down three offensive rebounds (LCU had a 4-0 scoring advantage in the category during the quarter). Robertson had eight points in the quarter to lead LCU with 18 points in the first half off 6-of-8 shooting (4-of-4 from three-point range).
 
Lubbock Christian continued to preserve its halftime lead before going on a 6-0 run, punctuated by a basket from MacI Maddox, to expand its lead further to 44-28 with 6:41 to go in the third. Foster had seven points and four rebounds in the frame to help the Lady Chaps head into the fourth quarter with a 50-39 edge. Lubbock Christian played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 14 points in the paint.
 
The Lady Chaps coasted to the win from there, increasing their margin of victory by outscoring the Cougars 16-13 in the fourth quarter. Lubbock Christian took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring eight of its 16 points in the paint. Of LCU's six field goals in the fourth quarter, a trio were hit by Foster, who led LCU with eight points. CCU was 0-of-7 from long range in the period and 2-of-12 in the half. Foster posted 15 points and eight rebounds in the second half.
 
Game Notes
» Grace Foster recorded an impressive double-double for the Lady Chaps, tallying 23 points and 14 rebounds. This marks her second straight game with a double-double and the 19th of her career (second this season).

» The Lady Chaps held the Cougars to only 32.7% shooting from the field, as LCU opponents have combined to go 32.9% from the field against them this season.

» The Lady Chaps trailed for 90 seconds in the game. It is the only time this season the Lady Chaps have trailed in a contest this season (biggest deficit has been three points).

» Grace Foster (23), Audrey Robertson (21), and Maci Maddox (10) combined to account for 82 percent of the Lady Chaps points.

» Foster went 9-for-20 from the field, matching her career high in field goal attempts. Her 20 attempts are tied for the third-highest single-game total in the Lady Chaps' NCAA era, marking the third time in her career she's reached this number.

» Lubbock Christian held a 42-26 advantage on the boards in the win. Saturday's +16 rebound margin topped Friday's +13 margin and marks LCU's largest rebound edge since posting a +16 on Feb. 11, 2023 (Friday's +13 had been the most since Feb. 11, 2023).
 
» The Lady Chaps are 4-0 in neutral site contests with the quartet of victories. LCU, 1-2 in neutral site play last season, has not had a winning record in neutral site contests since going 6-2 in 2021-22.
 
» CCU falls to 0-2 with the loss. They defeated Division I Denver in exhibition play but lost to UT Tyler Friday prior to facing the Lady Chaps. Saturday, they received 16 points from Maggie Hutka, who also led the Cougars with nine boards.
 
» LCU improved to 4-1 all-time against CCU and they have four consecutive wins against the Cougars. The meeting was their first-ever meeting on a neutral site floor.
 
Next Up
LCU returns home for their home opener Saturday, as they face Colo. Colorado Springs (UCCS) for their third consecutive meeting against a program representing the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
