Chaps Battle with Cameron Saturday Afternoon at the Rip Griffin Center

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lubbock Christian University Men's Basketball team welcomes Cameron to the Hub City Saturday afternoon. The Chaps look to sweep the season series over the Aggies.

The Series
Saturday will be the 12th meeting all-time between the Chaps and Aggies. LCU has controlled the series, holding a 7-4 record over CU. The Chaps beat the Aggies 87-73 on the road earlier this season (Jan. 4). LCU is undefeated (4-0) against Cameron inside the Rip Griffin Center.

 About Cameron
  • The Aggies are in their 2nd season with Head Coach Kevin O'Connor at the helm.
  • CU comes into Saturday with a 13-7 record and are 9-5 in LSC play.
  • The Aggies are 4-4 in the LSC West Division.
  • Lavell Brodnex is leading the way for CU, averaging 13.7 points and 6.4 rebounds a night.
  • CU scores 81.6 points per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 32.5 percent from behind the arc.
Last Time Out – LCU
Ethan Duncan and Najeeb Muhammad combined for 42 points to lead the Lubbock Christian University Men's Basketball team past Midwestern State at home Thursday night. 

The Chaps had three players score in double figures led by Duncan and Muhammad. Aaron Gonzales contributed with 13 points and seven rebounds. 

The LCU offense was impressive from beyond the arc, making 12 threes on 26 attempts. Duncan hit six treys for the Chaps in the contest.

The Chap defense held Midwestern State shooters to just 39.6 percent from the field, including 22.2 percent from three-point range.

Last Time Out – CU
Cameron had their five -game win streak snapped Thursday night, falling 90-78 on the road to No. 1 West Texas A&M.

Cameron jumped out to an early seven-point lead with help from a Jaylan Thomas three-pointer.  WT fought back quickly and took the lead with a three-pointer of their own.  The Buffaloes would take a 13-point lead into halftime.  The Aggies were able to come to within five points of the lead after another three-pointer, this time by Reggie Prudhomme. That was as close as the Aggies could get as WT would go on to win 90-78.

Lavell Brodnex grabbed a double-double for Cameron with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Daylon Andrews and Prudhomme each added 14 points in the effort.

A Win Would
  • Give the Chaps a 16-6 overall record and 11-3 in the Lone Star Conference.
  • Bring LCU's West Division record to 6-2.
  • Be the 237th win of the Coach Duncan era.
