AUSTIN, Texas - Despite Tiras Morton's 21 and Najeeb Muhammad's 20 point performances, the Lubbock Christian University Men's Basketball team fell to St. Edward's 91-84 on the road Thursday night.
The Chaparrals (19-8, 14-5) had four players score in double figures, led by Morton, who had 21 points and six rebounds. Muhammad added 20 points and four assists and Aaron Gonzales helped out with 13 points.
The Lubbock Christian offense was very productive from beyond the arc, making 12 threes on 17 attempts. Morton was the most prolific shooter for the Chaparrals, draining four treys in the contest.
How It Happened
After falling behind 25-18, LCU went on a 6-0 run with 7:41 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 25-24. St. Edward's answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Chaps down 39-34 entering halftime. The Chaps shot 13-of-32 from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
The Hilltoppers kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 48-34 advantage before LCU went on a 13-0 run to shrink the deficit to 48-47 with 14:50 to go in the contest. St. Edward's responded and outscored the Chaparrals the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 91-84. LCU shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting seven shots from deep to score 21 of its 50 points.

- LCU turned the ball over five times while dishing out 11 assists.
- The Chaps got six rebounds from both Ethan Duncan and Morton.
- LCU suffers consecutive losses for the first time since losing to Northern Michigan and Colorado School of Mines in early November.
- Blake Nielsen lead the Hilltoppers with 20 points and six rebounds. Gavino Ramos added 16 of his own on 4-of-6 shooting from behind the arc.
- SEU took advantage of LCU miscues, scoring 13 points off turnovers.
