Chaps Sweep Double Header Against Cameron

LAWTON, Okla. - The Lubbock Christian University Baseball team continued their series with Cameron by sweeping a double header against the Aggies Saturday. 

LCU captured 19-12 and 8-2 wins in the two seven inning games. 

Game 1 (19-12):
Ryan Ball lead the Chap offense in game one going 4-for-5 with seven RBIs. Carson Ogilvie added two hits and four RBIs of his own. Jacob Gutierrez and Frayner Chavez contributed with three RBIs each. Ryan Markwardt started on the hill for the Chaps, going 4.1 innings and allowing 4 earned runs. 

Scoring Summary:
4th Inning:
- LCU took a 2-0 lead when Ryan Ball hit a 2-RBI double. 
- Frayner Chavez grew the Chap lead to five with a three run homer. 
-The Aggies plated two runs of their own with a sacrifice fly and single. 

5th Inning:
- Ball extended the LCU lead to 9-2 with a grand slam.
- Carson Ogilvie made it 12-2 with his second homer of the year. 
- The Aggies cut the LCU lead with a 3 -run homer of their own. 

6th Inning:
- Chris Shull connected with his second big fly of the year. Growing the LCU lead to 13-5. 
- LCU added three more runs with a Gutierrez two-run bomb and a Ogilvie RBI triple. 
- Cameron strung together five runs in the sixth to make it a 16-10 game. 

7th Inning:
- LCU added three runs in the top of the seventh. Ball hit an RBI triple then scored on a passed ball. Later in the inning, Gutierrez hit his second homer of the game to give LCU a 19-10 lead. 
- Cameron plated two in the bottom of the inning, but could not over come the large deficit. 

Game 2 (8-2):
Chris Rhoades started on the bump for LCU in game 2. He went 5 innings allowing two earned runs and striking out seven Aggie batters. Ogilvie lead the Chap offense going 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Ball added two RBIs of his own. 

Scoring Summary:
1st Inning:
- The Chaps carried their hot bats into game two as Ball connected on a two run bomb in the top of the first.
- Hayden Blair grounded into a fielder's choice to make it a 3-0 game. 

4th Inning:
- Blair scored on a passed ball.
- Ogilvie drove in a run with a RBI double.
- Brevin McCool singled to bring home Ogilvie and give LCU a 6-0 lead.
- The Aggies plated two runs in the fourth to cut the LCU lead to 6-2.

6th Inning:
- Ogilive drove in Jaxson Edwards with his second RBI double of the game. 

7th Inning
- LCU scored their eighth and final run with a RBI single by Edwards. 

Game Notes:
  • LCU hit a combined seven homeruns in the two games.
  • The Chap pitchers struck out 15 batters in the double header. 
  • LCU went 19-of-35 in game one and 12-of-33 in game two.

The Chaps and Aggies wrap up the four game series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at McCord Field.
