LUBBOCK, Texas – The Lubbock Christian University Men's Basketball team battles UT Permian Basin on the road Saturday afternoon. The Chaps look to sweep the season series with the Falcons.

The Series
Saturday will be the 19^th matchup all-time between the Chaps and Falcons. LCU has controlled the series going 13-5. The Falcons traveled to Lubbock earlier this season (Jan. 11) and fell to the Chaps 79-69. LCU has won the previous six matchups against UTPB.

 About UT Permian Basin

• The Falcons are in their 2^nd season with Head Coach Kyle Tolin at the helm.
• UTPB comes into Saturday with a 13-9 overall record and are 8-8 in LSC play.
• The Falcons are 4-6 in LSC West Division contests.
• Alex Matthews is leading the way for UTPB, averaging 13.8 points and 5.1 rebounds a night.
• Lathaniel Bastian averages a double-double with 13 points and 10.6 rebounds per game.
• The Falcons score 80.4 points per game while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from behind the arc.

Last Time Out – LCU
The Chaps cruised to a 75-50 win over Angelo State on the road Thursday night. The win snapped the Rams 22 game home win streak that dated back to Feb. 12, 2022 (65-54 loss to Texas A&M International). 
The Chaps (17-6, 12-3) had four players score in double figures, led by Tiras Morton, who had 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Najeeb Muhammad added 17 points, six rebounds and five assists and Kurt Wegscheider helped out with 10 points and two blocks off the bench.
The LCU offense was very productive from deep, making eight threes on 23 attempts. Ty Caswell was the most prolific shooter for the Chaps, draining three treys in the contest.
LCU's defense held Angelo State to only 15.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc and 34.8 percent from the field. The Rams 50 points is their lowest point total of the season. 

Last Time Out – UTPB
UTPB battled in a 76-69 loss to #1 West Texas A&M Thursday night at the Falcon Dome.

UTPB and West Texas A&M played on even terms for the first 12 minutes.  Junior Khalil Haywood hit a bucket to put the Falcons up 16-15 with 9:32 left in the first half.  The Buffaloes went on a 20-8 run over the last eight minutes to lead 35-24 at halftime. 
For UTPB, Adeleye had 20 points and was 10-of-11 from the line, senior Keyon Craddock scored 16 points and graduate student Lathaniel Bastian had 10 points.

A Win Would

• Give the Chaps an 18-6 overall record and 12-3 in the Lone Star Conference.
• Bring LCU's West Division record to 8-2.
• Be the 239th win of the Coach Duncan era.
