The Chaparrals (21-9, 16-6) had three players score in double figures, led by Ethan Duncan, who had 27 points. Najeeb Muhammad added 15 points and five assists and Kurt Wegscheider helped out with 12 points.

The LCU offense made hay from three-point land, pouring in 11 threes on 21 attempts. Duncan hit six treys for the Chaparrals in the contest.

The Chap defense held West Texas A&M shooters to just 39.1 percent from the field, including 28 percent from three-point range.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 23-14 advantage, LCU went on a 5-0 run with 5:11 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Wegscheider, to increase its lead to 28-14. The Chaps then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 28-16 advantage. LCU relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down six shots to account for 18 of its 28 points.

LCU kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Duncan's three, to grow the lead to 67-56 with 1:30 to go in the contest. The Buffaloes narrowed the margin down the stretch, but the Chaparrals still held on for the 72-67 win.
