FRISCO, Texas - The Lubbock Christian University Men's basketball team shot 52.9 percent from three-point range on the way to an 80-67 win against St. Edward's at Comerica Center Thursday. The win advances LCU to the LSC Tournament semi-finals for a third consecutive season.
The Chaparrals (22-9) had four players score in double figures, led by Ethan Duncan, who had 23 points. Najeeb Muhammad added 15 points and Kurt Wegscheider helped out with 13 points and eight rebounds.
LCU utilized fantastic ball movement in Thursday's game, piling up 16 assists on 31 made field goals. Ty Caswell's five assists were the most for the Chaparrals.
How It Happened
After falling behind 26-22, LCU went on a 7-0 run with 3:44 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Duncan, to take a 29-26 lead. The Chaps then added one point to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 32-28 advantage. LCU relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down five shots to account for 15 of its 32 points.
Following intermission, LCU kept widening the lead, expanding it to 52-47 before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Caswell's three, to grow the lead to 59-47 with 8:38 to go in the contest. The Chaps survived a late game push by the Hilltoppers but held on for the 80-67 win.
