SAN ANTONIO, Texas (March 23, 2024) – Knocking off a pair of nationally ranked doubles teams in the process, Lubbock Christian University claimed their first Lone Star Conference victory of the season with a 5-2 road win over St. Mary's Saturday at Rohrbach Tennis Stadium.
LCU's momentum in the match started in doubles play, as LCU's team of
Martins Abamu / Triston Vigneron defeated No.28 nationally ranked team of Nicolas Llosa / Alvaro Soler 6-2 in No.1-doubles. It marked a sweep of doubles matches for LCU, as

Pablo Segura (No.3-doubles) claimed a win, along with LCU's
Mattia Ghedin /
Braden Tipton defeating No.44 Jake Faryniarz / Oskar Irdoja 6-2. The wins for Ghedin/Tipton and Abamu/Vigneron were their first against a nationally ranked opponent this season.
The Chaps clinched the match with a 4-0 lead, as No.6-singles (
Pablo Segura), No.1-singles (No.70 Vigneron) and No.2-singles (No.35 Abamu) was won by LCU to start singles play. Ghedin also claimed a singles win in No.3-singles play.
Segura's win marked his team-leading 18th singles win of the season (18-5). Abamu's victory placed him at 16-9 overall and he is 4-1 in No.2 singles.
The Chaps are now 13-3 on the season and their first LSC win has them with a 1-1 conference mark. They improve to 2-0 all-time against the Rattlers.
