LUBBOCK, Texas - The 18th ranked Lubbock Christian University Baseball team split a home double header against Texas A&M International at Hays Field Friday afternoon.

Junior Ryan Markwardt (6-2) started on the mound and picked up the win for LCUÂ (22-10). The left-hander went five innings, giving up one run on seven hits, allowing two walks and striking out six.
Alec Stanfield picked up the save out of the bullpen for the Chaps, tossing two innings, allowing one run on one hit, with one walk and striking out two Dustdevil hitters.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Chaps first put runs on the board in the second inning with an RBI single from senior Nate Van Maanen, scoring senior Ryan Ball from second base.
The score stayed at 1-1 until the very next inning, when the Chaps put three runs on the board as Jacob Gutierrez, Brevin McCool, and Ryan Ball collected an RBI in the frame.
Texas A&M International put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but LCUÂ still held on for the 4-2 win.

- Ball compiled three base knocks in the game for Lubbock Christian.
- The Chaparrals out-hit the Dustdevils at a 9-8 clip.

Sophomore Chris Rhoades (4-3) got the ball to start for LCUÂ (22-11) and took the loss. Sophomore Tyler Manyo was a bright spot for the Chaps, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two shutout innings, allowing one hit, with two walks and one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
LCUÂ did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Chaps went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the seventh, when McCool made it into scoring position with one out.
GAME NOTES
- LCUÂ pitchers faced 42 Texas A&M International hitters in the game, allowing nine ground balls and three fly balls while striking out seven.
- Ogilvie did not record a hit in the loss, snapping his 16 game hit streak.
- This is the second time all season the Chaps have been shutout.Â
- Texas A&M International was led offensively by junior Nomar Prieto, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
- Cabrera led the Dustdevils pitching staff, throwing a complete game shut out allowing just three hits and striking out six Chap batters.Â
