Chaps Picked Sixth in LSC Preseason Poll

RICHARDSON, Texas – The Lubbock Christian University men's soccer program was picked to finish sixth in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, as voted on by league coaches, sports information directors, and media members. 
 
The Chaps received 179 points following an 6-4-7 season and a 2-3-4 LSC record in 2023.

Midwestern State is predicted to win a second consecutive LSC Championship totaling 362 points and collecting 32 of the possible 33 first-place votes. The Mustangs went 20-1-1 overall and 9-0 in league play last season, winning the LSC regular season and tournament titles. MSU reached the third round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship and finished the year ranked top 10 nationally.

West Texas A&M was picked as the conference runner-up with 303 points followed by St. Mary's (275), Dallas Baptist (266), and Texas A&M International (211) to round out the top five. 

In addition to the preseason poll, the LSC announced the Preseason Players to Watch for the season. Each team has one offensive, one defensive, and one goalkeeper named to the list. For the Chaps redshirt junior Nako Amare and senior Alejo Garcia are the offensive and defensive representatives, respectively. Senior Connor Pettigrew represents LCU as the goalkeeper to watch.
 
The Chaps open the season on Sept. 5 against RMAC for Fort Lewis. Kick off is shceduled for 7:30 p.m. at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex.
