PUEBLO, Colo. (September 16, 2024) – Lubbock Christian University wrapped up a trio of tightly contested matches at the Pueblo Duals, finishing with a 2-1 record at the Pueblo Duals, which opened their 2024-25 duals playing season over the weekend at Pueblo City Park. The Chaps showcased resilience and depth as they battled Nebraska Kearney, Colorado Mesa, and Metropolitan State of Denver.
Match 1: LCU 4, Nebraska Kearney 3

In their opening match, LCU secured a thrilling 4-3 victory over Nebraska Kearney. Doubles play set the tone as
Blas Ruiz Romero and
Pablo Segura earned a 6-3 win at No. 3-doubles, followed by a clutch 7-5 win by the No. 1 pairing of
Mattia Ghedin and
Kelly Giese, clinching the doubles point for the Chaps.
Singles play was equally dramatic. Segura and
Andres De Los Rios dominated at No. 3 and No. 6-singles, with Segura winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
Blas Ruiz Romero delivered the match-deciding point with a marathon 7-6, 2-6, 18-16 win at No. 5 singles, sealing LCU's first win of the season.
Match 2: Colorado Mesa 4, LCU 3

LCU's second match saw them fall just short in a 4-3 loss to Colorado Mesa. Giese and Ghedin won their match 7-5 at No. 1 doubles, but Colorado Mesa responded with a pair of wins to gain the doubles ppoint..
In singles,
Pablo Segura and
Tristan Vigneron secured wins at No. 3 and No. 4-singles, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Mavericks' depth. Henry Scheck of Colorado Mesa delivered the decisive blow, defeating Ghedin 7-6, 1-6, 10-6 at No. 2 singles to hold off the Chaps.
Match 3: LCU 4, MSU Denver 3

In their final match, LCU bounced back with a 4-3 win over MSU Denver. The Chaps swept the doubles portion, winning all three matches convincingly, capped by a 6-2 victory from Giese and Ghedin at No. 1-doubles.
Singles play featured a standout performance from Segura, who remained unbeaten at the Pueblo Duals, securing a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
Blas Ruiz Romero and
Andres De Los Rios both earned straight-set victories at No. 5 and No. 6-singles, respectively, to push LCU to their second win of the weekend.
Ruiz Romero and Segura each went 3-0 in singles play on the weekend. All of Segura's wins were in No.3-singles. In doubles, LCU went 6-3, with Ghedin and Giese going 3-0 together.
LCU concludes the Pueblo Duals with a 2-1 record on the season and will look to build on their success in the spring, as the dual matches were LCU's only dual matches of the fall.
