LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Christian University women's soccer team secured a 3-1 win over New Mexico Highlands Wednesday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex.
The win improved Lubbock Christian's record to 2-2-1 overall.
How it Happened:
LCU took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute when Taylor Sal placed a header past the Cowgirl keeper off of an Avery Jennings corner kick. The goal was the first of Sal's collegiate career.
The Lady Chaps extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Journey Curs in the 32nd minute. The freshmen forward blasted a shot from outside the box into the top left corner.
Before the half ended, LCU took a 3-0 lead on Duschka Diaz's 43rd minute goal, the first of her LCU career. Curs assisted on the goal.
After the break, the Cowgirls made it a 3-1 match with an 81st minute goal from Acacia Rodriguez.
Game Notes:
- Sal, Curs, and Diaz all scored their first goals as Lady Chaps.
- LCU out shot the Cowgirls 25-6.
- The Lady Chaps pounded 11 shots on goal. Curs and Diaz led LCU with two shots on goal each.
- LCU held the Cowgirls to just two shots on goal.
- Curs' assist was also the first of her career.
- The Lady Chaps move to 4-0 all-time against the Cowgirls.
