LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Christian University men's soccer team fell 5-0 at home to No. 21 Fort Lewis Thursday night.
The loss marks the first time in the Coach Cone era that the Chaps have dropped the first game of the season.
How it Happened
Fort Lewis broke the 0-0 tie in the 21st minute as Anton Hjalmarsson found the back of the net, he was assisted by Gabriel Legendre.
Less than three minutes later, Tomas Duenes Gonzalez extended the Skyhawk lead to two.
The score remained 2-0 until David Citron scored in the 63rd minute.
Citron would go on to score his second goal of the night in the 81st minute off an assist by Jakob Larson.
Fort Lewis scored their fifth and final goal in the 85th minute when Vincent Edgell bet the LCU goalkeeper.
Game Notes
- Connor Pettigrew recorded five saves for the Chaps out of 15 total Skyhawks shots.
- The Chaparrals registered 10 shots in the loss, two of them on goal. Saimon Gjeci recorded both shots on goal.
- Eight Chaps made their LCU debuts in the match, including freshmen Aron DePaula and Justin Martinez who made their collegiate debuts.
