LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lubbock Christian University men's soccer team kept Adams State off the scoreboard and grabbed a 2-0 shutout win Saturday (Sept. 7) at home at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex.
How it Happened
LCU started the scoring early when they were awarded a penalty kick in the seventh minute. Saimon Gjeci took the shot for the Chaps. His initial penalty shot was saved by the Grizzlies goalkeeper, but he corralled the rebound and put it into the back of the net.
The Chaps extended their lead in the 57th minute when Manu Nunez looped a corner kick into the box and Geoffroy Letienne put it away with a header.
Game Notes
- Connor Pettigrew piled up eight saves for the Chaps out of 18 total Grizzlies shots. Saturday was the second shutout of Pettigrew's career.
- Gjeci's goal was the first of the season for LCU.
- Letienne scored the first goal of his LCU career in the win.
- The Chaps put five shots on goal in the win, out of six total shots (83.3 shot on goal percentage).
