LUBBOCK, Texas (October 29, 2025) — Midwestern State defeated Lubbock Christian University 2-0 at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex on Wednesday.
The Chaparrals tallied 13 shots with six on target but could not convert past the opposing goalkeeper. Midwestern State capitalized with goals in each half, securing the win.
Lubbock Christian holds a record of 6-7-3 overall and 5-2-2 in conference play. Midwestern State stands at 10-3-3 overall and 6-2-0 within the conference.
Connor Pettigrew played the full 90 minutes in goal, recording three saves on 18 shots faced.
Francisco Horta Jaramillo contributed offensively with two shots, both on target.
Augusto Militao was active in the attack, posting three shots with two on goal.
Kade McKinzie added two shots, one of which was on target.
The match commenced with the Chaps attempting to find the net early, as McKinzie and Horta both challenged Midwestern State's goalkeeper, Jake Morris, with shots that were saved. The Chaps continued to press, with
Ty Gibbs and Militao each testing the defense, but Morris maintained the clean sheet.
Despite those efforts, Midwestern State broke through in the 33rd minute when Liam Pritchard scored, assisted by Angel Escobar and Tanner Tea.
Lubbock Christian aimed to shift the momentum back in their favor in the start of the second half, as
Manu Nunez's early attempt was saved by the Mustang keeper. The Chaps continued to press, generating multiple shots, including a close effort from
Carlos Kramer Silva that struck the woodwork in the 60th minute. Despite these efforts, Midwestern State's defense held firm.
Midwestern State responded with a series of corner kicks and shots, eventually converting in the 82nd minute. Liam Kervick found the net with an assist from Jaime Villagomez, extending the visitor's lead. LCUs attempts to rally, including a shot by Militao, were thwarted by Morris, closing the half at 0-2 in favor of Midwestern State.

- LCU is now third in the LSC with 17 points, one behind Midwestern State and one ahead of St. Edward's
- The Chaps finished the game with more shots on goal (6) than the Mustangs (5)
- Pettigrew made three more saves in the game and continues to lead the LSC in that category, now with 57 on the season
