Junior Guard Leads No. 13 Lady Chaps to 2–0 Start at D2CCA Tip-Off Classic, Earns First Career LSC Weekly Award

RICHARDSON, Texas (November 4, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University junior guard Kennedy Chappell was named the Lone Star Conference Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office. The recognition marks the first weekly award of the 2025–26 LSC women's basketball season and the first career conference honor for Chappell.

The Heath, Texas, native powered No. 13 LCU to a 2–0 start at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic in St. Joseph, Mo., averaging 17.0 points, 6.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 52.0% (13-of-25) from the field. The Lady Chaparrals posted comeback victories over Adams State (66–57) and Missouri Western State (82–75), extending their D2CCA Tip-Off Classic win streak to five straight.

Chappell delivered a career-best performance in Sunday's win over Missouri Western, scoring a career-high 21 points to go with seven assists, seven made field goals, and 7-of-8 free-throw shooting — all career highs. She also drew 10 fouls against the Griffons, helping the Lady Chaps maintain control down the stretch. One day earlier, she scored 13 points with six assists against Adams State, including 11 points in the second half to spark LCU's rally from a 13-point deficit.

Through two games, Chappell ranks second in the Lone Star Conference in scoring (17.0 ppg) and first in assists (6.5 apg), while averaging 12.0 points per game in the second half. The Lady Chaps averaged 74.0 points and shot 42.7% as a team during their opening weekend.

Chappell, the lone returning starter from last season's NCAA South Central Regional finalist squad, becomes LCU's first Offensive Player of the Week honoree since Grace Foster (Feb. 25, 2025) and continues a strong program tradition — the Lady Chaps produced nine total weekly conference awards last season, led by All-American Grace Foster (8 total – 4 offensive, 4 defensive) and Maci Maddox (1 – offensive).

The Lady Chaparrals (2–0) return to action November 14 in Pueblo, Colo., facing Colorado Christian in the South Central Region Challenge inside Massari Arena.
