LUBBOCK, Texas (November 8, 2025) — Lubbock Christian University defeated West Tex. A&M 2-1 on Saturday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex with a late goal from
Augusto Militao, advancing to the semfinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
The Chaparrals took an early lead with a first-half goal, but West Tex. A&M responded with a goal in the second half before Militao's game-winner with less than five minutes left in the match. The home team recorded 23 shots with seven on target, while their goalkeeper made four saves to secure the victory.
Lubbock Christian holds a record of 7-7-4 overall and 5-3-3 in conference play. West Texas A&M finishes the season at 6-9-2 overall with a 3-5-2 mark in conference competition.
Geoffroy Letienne scored one goal on his only shot.
Francisco Horta registered one assist and led the team with four shots, including one on goal.
Manu Nunez also contributed an assist while attempting four shots.
Augusto Militao netted the game-winning goal, finishing with three shots, two of which were on target.
The first half began with the Chaps setting the pace early on. Despite a series of fouls, they managed to maintain offensive pressure, recording several shots on goal. Letienne broke the deadlock in the 21st minute after the Chaps earned a free kick. Nunez took it, sending a perfect ball to the back post, where Letienne headed it home.
West Tex. A&M faced defensive challenges in the opening half, receiving both a yellow and a red card in a tense moment, which reduced them to ten players for the remainder of the match.
Connor Pettigrew made key saves to keep the visitors scoreless, and the half concluded with the Chaps holding a 1-0 lead.
The visiting team briefly seized the momentum when D'Jonte Davis scored in the 63rd minute, leveling the match.
Despite multiple shot attempts from the Chaparrals, including efforts from Horta and
Aron DePaula, the breakthrough did not come until the 87th minute. Horta played the ball into the box this time, where Militao headed it home.
Pettigrew made a crucial save against Davis on a WT corner kick in the 88th minute as the Buffs brought their keeper down for an extra attacker, and the Chaps walked away with a 2-1 win.

- The Chaparrals won their first postseason game since Nov. 12, 2021, when they also beat WT - 1,457 days ago
- The Chaps have won seven games for the first time since the 2022 season, when they went 7-8-4
- LCU's 23 total shots are tied for their second-most in a single game this season, behind only the Sept. 6 win against Adams State, when they had 28
- Militao's goal was just his second of the season, and his first since the Oct. 11 win at UT Tyler
- Pettigrew's four saves brought his season total to 66
