LUBBOCK, Texas (February 16,2025) – Piper Garcia homered in both games, launching a grand slam in the opener, while Kendra Lavesque crushed two home runs to lead Lubbock Christian University past No. 20 Oklahoma Christian 12-4 in six innings. However, the Lady Chaparrals saw their 11-game win streak snapped with an 8-4 loss in the second game, settling for a Lone Star Conference doubleheader split Sunday afternoon at a chilly Maner Park.
Game 1
Kendra Levesque put together a stellar performance at the plate Sunday, hitting two homers to help propel the Lubbock Christian Chaparrals past the No. 20 Oklahoma Christian Eagles 12-4.
Emily Dix (4-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Lubbock Christian. The right-hander went five innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits, allowing four walks and striking out one.
Levesque went 3-for-3 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with four RBI. Piper Garcia added to Levesque's awesome power-hitting performance by going 2-for-3 with a grand slam and four RBI. Senior Bailey Hughes also chipped in for the Chaparrals, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Oklahoma Christian took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second after a leadoff single by Kate Paulsen. A groundout moved her into scoring position before Kiley Brewster delivered an RBI double down the left-field line. Moments later, an infield miscue allowed another run to score, putting the Eagles ahead.
LCU quickly responded in the bottom of the inning. Kendra Levesque led off with a walk and advanced on a wild pitch before Kristen Boyd drew another free pass. Riley Flores laid down a bunt single, and an errant throw allowed Levesque to score, cutting the deficit to 2-1. With two runners still on, Bailey Hughes worked a walk to load the bases, setting the stage for Garcia, who launched a grand slam home run down the left-field line to give LCU a 5-2 lead. The rally continued as Kawehi Ili and Baylea Myers reached base before Levesque stepped up again, crushing a three-run homer to left center and extending the lead to 8-2.
Oklahoma Christian trimmed the deficit in the fourth when Maci George ripped an RBI double to make it 8-3. LCU answered in the bottom half, adding two more runs on Hughes' RBI double and Levesque's RBI single to push the lead to 10-3. The Eagles scored again in the sixth when Brewster singled home Chenna Davidson, but LCU put the game out of reach in the bottom of the inning with a sacrifice fly from Yaya Kaaialii and a double steal that allowed Garcia to swipe home, sealing the 12-4 victory.

Piper Garcia went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI for the Lubbock Christian Chaparrals in an 8-4 loss in the second game of the doubleheader.
Teoni Lamb (1-1) started and took the loss in the circle for Lubbock Christian (12-2, 3-1). Ashlinn Hamilton was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 4.2 innings, surrendering three runs, one earned, on three hits, walking one and striking out two.
In the batter's box, the Chaparrals were led by Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Senior Kawehi Ili put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Sophomore Kadin Vire also chipped in for Lubbock Christian, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
OC broke through in the second when Kallie Rupp's two-run single, combined with an error, plated the first two runs. Marti Yaerger followed with a two-run single of her own, extending the advantage to 4-0. The Eagles added another run in the third on Kiley Brewster's RBI double to left field, pushing the margin to 5-0.
Lubbock Christian responded in the bottom of the third, cutting into the deficit with a two-run frame. Piper Garcia singled and later came around to score on Kadin Vire's RBI single. A wild pitch then allowed Kawehi Ili to cross the plate, bringing the Lady Chaps within three at 5-2.
The game remained scoreless for the next three innings as OC's Grace Anderson and LCU's Ashlinn Hamilton settled in. Anderson kept the Lady Chaps in check, scattering five hits and striking out seven in a complete-game performance.
Oklahoma Christian delivered the knockout blow in the seventh, tacking on three insurance runs. Rupp and Yaerger sparked the rally with back-to-back hits before Chenna Davidson's two-run single made it 7-2. A sacrifice fly from Anderson pushed the lead to six.
LCU attempted to rally in the bottom of the frame as Garcia belted a two-run home run to left field, but Anderson shut the door to secure the win
