KINGSVILLE, Texas (February 21, 2025) - Five Chaparrals scored in double figures as Lubbock Christian took down the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas 75-63 on the road Saturday.

The Chaparrals (22-6, 17-3) were led by Sean Murphy, who had 16 points and eight rebounds. Ethan Duncan and Najeeb Muhammad helped out with 14 points apiece, Ty Caswell scored 12 and Aaron Gonzales scored 11 off the bench.

Lubbock Christian's defense held Texas A&M-Kingsville to only 37.7 percent shooting from the field, including 27.8 percent from beyond the arc.

It is the 12th straight win for the Chaps in a steak that started on Jan. 23 against Oklahoma Christian. It is the longest win streak since the start of the 2021-22 season, when they won 19 straight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lubbock Christian struggled early on, falling behind 20-12 through the first 12 minutes of the game. After closing the gap to 25-24, the Chaps went on a 10-0 run with 2:33 left in the half, culminating in a three from Muhammad, to take a 34-25 lead  just before the break.

LCU relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down six shots to account for 18 of its 34 points.

Following intermission, Lubbock Christian kept widening that lead, expanding it to 64-49 before going on a 7-0 run to grow the lead to its widest margin of 24 points at the 4:44 mark. With the haps emptying the bench at that point, Texas A&M-Kingsville closed the game on a 14-2 runs, for the final 12-point margin.

» Lubbock Christian hit 10 three-pointers in the game, led by three from Gonzales.
» The Chaparrals held the Javelinas to only 37.7 percent shooting from the field. It is the ninth time this season an LCU opponent has been held below 40 percent shooting.
» Lubbock Christian had a 37-34 edge on the boards in the win. They are now 17-1 on the year when they out-rebound their opponent.
» Sean Murphy led the Chaparrals with a game-high 16 points. It is the fifth time this season he has led the Chaps in scoring.
