Sunday's match at the TJC Murphy Tennis Center was LCU's toughest test of the weekend, as the Chaps edged out No. 17 Mississippi College 4-3 in a battle that came down to the wire. The Chaparrals earned the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, as
Mattia Ghedin and
Marco Seccia dominated 6-3, while

Giese fell at No. 1-singles to Harding's nationally ranked (No.4) Cas de Ruiter, cutting the score to 2-1. Segura followed with another clutch three-set win, 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 (7-4), at No. 2-singles (against nationally ranked No.27 Adrian Solorzano). The win setup
Marco Seccia's match-clinching victory at No. 4 singles with a hard-fought 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) win, which was also his first win as a Chap. Play was halted on courts five and six after the match was decided.
Across the weekend, Segura was solid, going 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles play. Riding a five-match win streak in singles (leads LCU on the season with 16 wins and is 16-3 in singles), Segura singles play included a win against a nationally ranked opponent in singles for LCU's lone win in singles against a ranked foe. Giese and Ruiz Romero had the lone win in doubles play against a nationally ranked tandem (it has been their only match together this season). Ghedin and Seccia went 3-0 on the weekend teamed in doubles.
The trio of wins has LCU on a six-match win streak in duals. They make their home debut Saturday with a pair of duals, as they host Metropolitan State of Denver (10 a.m.) and Emporia State (1 p.m.) at Penny Gullo Tennis Center.
