LUBBOCK, Texas (February 7,2025) – Lubbock Christian University pitchers
Emily Dix (14) and
Teoni Lamb (10) combined for 24 strikeouts, leading the Lady Chaparrals to back-to-back shutout victories in the Lubbock Sports College Invitational. LCU defeated Chadron State College 6-0 and Texas Permian Basin 3-0 on Friday at Maner Park, extending their winning streak to six games.
Game 1 – vs. Chadron State College
Senior
Emily Dix was dealing on Friday, tossing a four-hit shutout to lead LCU past the Eagles 6-0.
Dix (2-0) went the distance for Lubbock Christian (6-1), giving up four hits, walking one and striking out a career-high 14 batters. She was nearly untouchable, scattering four hits over seven innings while walking only one. She recorded multiple strikeouts in five of her seven innings and did not allow a runner past third base.
In the batter's box, the Chaparrals were paced by sophomore
Kadin Vire, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double and three RBI. Senior
Baylea Myers furnished a standout day at the dish as well, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Senior
Kendra Levesque also chipped in for Lubbock Christian, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lubbock Christian took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when
Kadin Vire led off with a single up the middle, stole second, and scored on a two-out RBI single from
Baylea Myers.
After stranding runners in scoring position in the second and fourth innings, LCU added to its lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Kristen Boyd singled and advanced to third on a throwing error before
Bailey Hughes drove her in with an RBI single to center field, making it 2-0.
The Lady Chaps put the game out of reach in the sixth, striking for four runs.
Yaya Kaaialii walked to start the inning, and
Cat Prisock followed with a bunt single. After a fielder's choice loaded the bases,
Madison Ruiz singled to keep the rally going. Vire delivered the biggest blow of the inning, lacing a three-run double to center field to extend the lead to 5-0.
Kawehi Ili capped the scoring with an RBI groundout, plating Vire to make it 6-0.
Dix closed out the victory in dominant fashion, striking out the final two batters to secure her second win of the season.
GAME NOTES
» Dix tossed a four-hit shutout for the Lady Chaps. She was making her third appearance and first start of the season. With her totals, she now has 21 strikeouts in 13.1 innings pitched. Her 14 strikeouts Friday were the most for the Lady Chaps since
Maxine Valdez had 16 strikeouts against UTPB on Apr. 28, 2023.
» Myers picked up three hits in the game for Lubbock Christian. She has five multi-hit games on the season and has at least one hit in all eight games this season.
» Four Lady Chaps had multiple hits in the ballgame, as they out-hit the Eagles at a 12-4 clip.
» Lubbock Christian went 4-for-12 (.333) with runners in scoring position, while Dix limited Chadron State to 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
» Dix faced 25 Chadron State hitters in the game, allowing zero ground balls and six fly balls while striking out 14.
» Vire led the Chaparrals at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and a season-high three RBI.
» Chadron State was led offensively by junior Katelynn Cze, who went 1-for-3 with a double.
HISTORY LESSON
» LCU improved to 7-0 all-time against Chadron State, with a 6-0 record in Lubbock. The result marked the third consecutive game against Chadron State resulting in a shutout win for LCU. CSC has gone 21 consecutive innings without scoring a run against LCU.
Game 2 – vs. UTPB
Lubbock Christian University continued its dominant pitching display at the Lubbock Sports College Invitational, as senior
Teoni Lamb and freshman
Kendall Ward combined for a two-hit shutout in a 3-0 victory over UT Permian Basin Friday at Maner Park. The Lady Chaps improved to 7-1 on the season while handing UTPB (1-4) its first loss.
Lamb (1-0) was nearly untouchable in her first home appearance of the season, striking out 10 batters over 6.2 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. Ward entered in the seventh to record the final out, earning her first save of the season. The Lady Chaps backed their pitching with nine hits, led by
Baylea Myers, who went 2-for-4 with a solo home run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lubbock Christian wasted no time getting on the board, as Myers launched a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the first to give the Lady Chaps an early 1-0 lead.
The offense added another run in the second.
Yaya Kaaialii ripped a ground-rule double to right center, and after a walk to
Riley Flores,
Madison Ruiz singled to center field, scoring Kaaialii to extend the lead to 2-0.
Ruiz played a role in another LCU run in the fourth. After Flores tripled to right field with two outs, Ruiz delivered again with an RBI single to left, pushing the lead to 3-0.
UTPB threatened in the sixth, putting two runners in scoring position with one out, but Lamb induced a sacrifice bunt and a lineout to right field to escape the jam. In the seventh, Ward came in to retire the final batter on a groundout to seal the win.

» LCU has produced three consecutive shutouts and they have all been at home (spanning 19 innings), where LCU is 3-0.
» Lamb struck out 10 Falcons hitters for a second time in her career, as the performance matched her career high from Apr. 18, 2024, which was also against UT Permian Basin.

Riley Flores hit a triple for the first triple of her career (appearing in 110
th game).
» LCU out-hit the Falcons at a 9-2 clip.
» Lubbock Christian went 4-for-11 (.364) with runners in scoring position.
» Myers led the Chaparrals at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. Her home run was the second of the season and sixth of her LCU career.
