Grace 2-K: Foster’s 32-Point Masterpiece Lifts LCU to Regional Semifinals

Lady Chaps Rally Late as Foster’s Record-Breaking Night Secures Victory

DENTON, Texas (March 14, 2025) – Grace Foster delivered a record-breaking performance, scoring an LCU NCAA postseason single-game record 32 points to lift No. 2-seeded Lubbock Christian University past a four-point deficit in the final 3:46. The Lady Chaparrals secured a thrilling 68-65 victory over No. 7-seed Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS) Friday inside Kitty Magee Arena, advancing to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Semifinals. An upset by No. 6-seed West Texas A&M over No. 3-seed No. 10 UT Tyler sets up a "Rivalry on the Range" showdown in the Semifinals, with LCU and WT set to clash Saturday at 5 p.m. for a spot in the regional championship game.

Foster's historic performance added to her legacy, as her 32-point outing (the second-highest of her season) propelled her past 2,000 career points—making her the first Lady Chap to achieve the milestone. The Lady Chaps (30-4) had three players score in double figures, led by Foster's record-setting night. Audrey Robertson contributed 13 points and four steals, while Maci Maddox filled the stat sheet with 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

The Lubbock Christian defense held UCCS shooters to just 39.1 percent from the field, including 21.7 percent from three-point range (5/23).

UCCS (19-12) fell short of extending its longest win streak of the season, as its three-game surge—crucial in securing a regional tournament berth—came to an end. Amyah Moore Allen led the Mountain Lions with 20 points, while Maison White posted a double-double with 15 rebounds and 11 points. UCCS dominated the glass, out-rebounding LCU 38-30 and holding a 9-0 edge in second-chance points.

How It Happened
After falling behind 8-4, Lubbock Christian went on a 9-0 run with 5:53 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from MacI Maddox, to take a 13-8 lead. Grace foster (7) and Audrey Robertson (5) combined for 12 points in the first frame and it led to a  20-14 advantage for the Lady Chaps. Lubbock Christian also relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 20 points (Foster and Robertson each had a three-pointer, along with Kimber Mathews, who hit a three-pointer late in the first quarter).

UCCS fought back to tie the game at 24-24 before Lubbock Christian went on a 7-0 run starting at the 4:17 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Maddox, to take a 31-24 lead. The Mountain Lions had a 4-0 run to end the half (all in the final minute) to cut LCU's lead to a 31-28 advantage heading into halftime. Lubbock Christian dominated in the paint, scoring six of its 11 points close to the basket. Foster posted another seven points and led LCU with a 14-point first half.

LCU built a lead as large as 43-35 in the third quarter, but UCCS answered with a 6-0 run. A similar sequence played out later in the period, as LCU used a 5-0 spurt to extend its lead to 48-41 with 59 seconds remaining, only for UCCS to counter with a 5-0 run of its own, trimming the deficit to 50-48.

UCCS used an 8-0 run to turn a four-point deficit into a four-point advantage with 3:46 to go, but Lubbock Christian responded by closing the game on an 11-4 run. Of LCU's 11 points in the final 3:20, Foster was responsible for nine of them, including an old-fashioned three-point play with 16 seconds left to put LCU up 66-62. UCCS was 1-of-6 from the field over the final 4:32 of the game.

Game Notes
» Grace Foster's 32-point performance marked the seventh 30-point (or more) performance in her career. Since 2007-08, only seven other performances (by other Lady Chaps) have notched at least 30 points and no other player has completed the task more than twice in their career. Foster's mark topped her prior program record (in a NCAA postseason game) of 29, which she had recorded against Texas Woman's on Mar. 10, 2023 (in San Angelo, Texas).

» Grace Foster, Audrey Robertson, and Maci Maddox combined to account for 84 percent of the Lady Chaps points.

» Audrey Robertson played in her 155th career game, which matches a program career mark originally set by Allie Schulte (2017-22).

» Lubbock Christian got a team-high eight rebounds from Maci Maddox, which was one shy of her career high.

» Grace Foster became the eight active player this season in NCAA Div. II to surpass 2,000 career points (first Lady Chaps member to complete the task).

» Maci Maddox recorded four assists, which places her with 443 career assists to move past Hailey Burton (2010-15) into third place all-time in career assists (in program history).

» Foster now has 132 career points tallied in South Central Region play (career), which is a new all-time mark by a Lady Chap.

» LCU is now 25-4 all-time in NCAA postseason play and 16-3 all-time in regional play. They improve to 6-1 in quarterfinals played in regionals.

» The Lady Chaps are now 7-3 in neutral site contests this season.

» LCU is 7-1 all-time against UCCS with the win (2-1 in a neutral site setting), as the two teams were meeting for the first time in postseason play. LCU also goes to 2-0 this season against the Mountain Lions. As for UCCS head coach Misty Wilson, she is now 0-3 against LCU all-time in postseason play (she previously coached at Tarleton State).
