ODESSA, Texas (March 30, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University secured its first road doubleheader sweep of the season, defeating Texas Permian Basin 5-1 and 8-1 on Sunday afternoon at Falcon Field in an LSC West Division matchup.
Game 1
LCU used a three-run fifth inning and strong pitching from
Kendall Ward and
Ashlinn Hamilton to secure a 5-1 victory over UTPB in the opener.
Ward (4-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Lubbock Christian (22-15, 13-14). The right-hander went 4.1 shutout innings while giving up two hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After trading single runs in the second inning, Lubbock Christian (22-15, 13-14 LSC) broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth.
Baylea Myers was hit by a pitch to lead off the frame before
Kristen Boyd doubled to left-center, putting two runners in scoring position. A fielder's choice failed to produce an out, loading the bases. After a popout,
Kawehi Ili drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Myers and push LCU in front 2-1.
Riley Flores followed with a two-run single up the middle, extending the lead to 4-1.
LCU tacked on another run in the seventh when Hamilton reached on a two-out walk, and pinch-runner
Hayeli Acosta stole second before scoring on Ili's RBI single to left.
The Falcons (6-31, 1-26 LSC) opened the scoring in the second when K. Valo walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and came home on L. Lopez's RBI single. LCU quickly responded in the top of the frame, as Hamilton doubled and later scored on
Piper Garcia's RBI-single.
UTPB had a key opportunity in the third when K. Sanford singled and advanced to second on an error, but the threat ended with a groundout. The Falcons were limited to five hits and did not record a baserunner over the final two innings.
Ward (4-1) earned the win with 4.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just two hits and a walk while recording nine groundouts. Aguilar (1-3) took the loss for UTPB, allowing four runs on five hits over five innings.

Game 2
Lubbock Christian capped off a dominant doubleheader sweep with an 8-1 victory over Texas-Permian Basin. Behind a complete-game effort from
Teoni Lamb and a multi-hit performance from Brylea Myers, the Lady Chaps pulled away late to secure the win
Lamb (5-5) got the win for Lubbock Christian (23-15, 14-14). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on eight hits, allowing one walk and striking out five.
In addition to her three hits, Myers had a home run and two RBI to lead the Lady Chaps. Boyd put together a noteworthy game at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Vire also chipped in for Lubbock Christian, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After three scoreless innings, Lubbock Christian broke through in the fourth when Boyd delivered an RBI single to center, plating Rylie Flores for the game's first run. The Lady Chaps tacked on another in the fifth as
Kawehi Ili led off with a walk and later scored on a double by Vire, extending the lead to 2-0.
The decisive blow came in the sixth when LCU erupted for four runs. Myers sparked the rally with a leadoff single, and
Kendra Levesque followed with a double to left-centerfield fence. Boyd came through again with an RBI single, bringing home Myers.
Moments later, Ili ripped an RBI-double to right-center, scoring Boyd. A sacrifice fly by
Sophia Reyes added another run (her first RBI with the Lady Chaps), and by the end of the frame, the Lady Chaps held a commanding 6-0 lead.
Myers capped her stellar performance in the seventh, launching a two-run homer to left-center, her team-leading sixth of the season, bringing home Flores to push the advantage to 8-0.
UTPB (6-32, 1-27 LSC) managed to avoid the shutout in the bottom of the seventh when Kylie Parker and Mia Serrato each singled to set the table for Emery Aguilar, who delivered an RBI infield single. However, Lamb shut the door with a groundout to secure the complete-game win.
GAME NOTES
» Myers had three base knocks in the game for Lubbock Christian. It was her team-leading 17
th multi-hit game and sixth three-hit game of the season. Her home run in the game was her team-leading sixth of the season and her career 10
th as a member of the Lady Chaps.
» Lamb struck out five Falcons hitters. Her victory in the circle placed her with a 5-5 record on the season and 14-9 in her LCU career, and the complete game was her sixth of the season and 16
th of her career.
» The Lady Chaps out-hit the Falcons at a 10-8 clip, moving them to 17-1 when out-hitting their opponents.
» Lubbock Christian went 5-for-13 (.385) with runners in scoring position. Boyd was 2-for-2 with runners in scoring position.
» Lubbock Christian pitchers limited Texas-Permian Basin to just 1-for-9 (.111) with runners in scoring position.

Kawehi Ili had a productive stat line on the day, as she had a .857 on-base percentage. Ili was 2-for-3 on the plate in the combined two games (with a double and three RBI), and in addition she was walked twice, hit twice. On the bases, she had a stolen base, as LCU was a combined 5-of-5 in stolen base attempts in the two games.
» Boyd also had a productive day, combining for a 4-for-8 performance at the plate with two doubles and two RBI.

Riley Flores leaves Sunday as LCU's active hit leader at six games. Additionally, Boyd has reached base safely in now 17 consecutive games.
» LCU had a 16-13 hit advantage on the afternoon. LCU had seven extra-base hits, while UTPB had 13 singles.
» The sweep was LCU's first road sweep of the season and places them with a 6-10 road record.
HISTORY LESSON
The doubleheader sweep places LCU with a 39-0 all-time record against UTPB. They are 3-0 against UTPB this season and improve to 15-0 all-time against UTPB in Odessa.
