LUBBOCK, Texas (April 11, 2025)
— Lubbock Christian University softball delivered a dominant sweep Friday in Lone Star Conference West Division play, shutting out Texas Permian Basin in both ends of a doubleheader at Maner Park.
Teoni Lamb tossed a four-hit shutout in an 8-0 run-rule victory in Game 1, and freshman
Natalee Gray followed with her first collegiate no-hitter — the 31st in program history — as the Lady Chaps capped the day with another 8-0 run-rule win in five innings.
Game 1
Lubbock Christian University used timely hitting and a dominant effort in the circle from
Teoni Lamb to blank UTPB 8-0 in six innings in the opener. The Lady Chaps outhit UTPB 13-4 and capitalized on key miscues to extend their all-time series lead over the Falcons to 40-0.
Senior
Teoni Lamb was dealing Friday, throwing a four-hit shutout while walking one and striking out eight. At the plate, the Chaparrals were led by
Kendra Levesque, who went 3-for-4 on the day with two doubles and two RBI.
Kristen Boyd put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Kawehi Ili also helped out for Lubbock Christian, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding two RBI.
Piper Garcia reached safely twice with a hit, walk, and RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a quiet first inning, LCU broke through in the second when
Kristen Boyd led off with a single up the middle, advanced twice on wild pitches, and scored on a right-center RBI-single from
Ashlinn Hamilton. Though LCU loaded the bases later in the inning, UTPB starter Emery Aguilar wiggled out of further damage.
LCU added a run in each of the next three innings. In the third,
Baylea Myers singled and scored on a double from
Kendra Levesque. A potential rally was cut short by a rare double play when Hamilton fouled out to right field and Levesque was caught attempting to score. In the fourth,
Kendall Ward singled, stole second, and crossed the plate on a
Piper Garcia single to push the lead to 3-0.
The fifth saw Levesque strike again, doubling for the second time and later scoring on Boyd's RBI single. LCU loaded the bases but left them full after a foul out and groundout ended the inning.
The Lady Chaps pulled away in the sixth. Leadoff hitter
Kadin Vire laid down a bunt single, and pinch hitter
Bailey Hughes reached on an error. Levesque drove in a run with her third hit of the game, and Boyd followed with her third RBI of the day. With the bases again full,
Kawehi Ili lined a two-run single to left center to invoke the run-rule and cap a four-run frame.
Lamb (6-7) was sharp throughout, striking out eight and walking just one in a 92-pitch complete game. UTPB had baserunners in four innings but managed only one runner in scoring position. Aguilar (2-5) took the loss, allowing seven earned runs over 5.1 innings before giving way to Meghan Gattis in the sixth.

Game 2
Freshman
Natalee Gray tossed a five-inning no-hitter and Lubbock Christian backed her gem with an explosive offense as the Lady Chaps completed a doubleheader sweep with an 8-0 run-rule victory over UT Permian Basin
Gray (5-3) added her fifth win of the season to her outstanding performance. The right-hander struck out two and walked two for Lubbock Christian (26-18, 17-17) on her way to the record books.
The Lady Chaps totaled 11 hits, led by Vire's 3-for-3 effort with three runs scored and an RBI. Myers finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and fell a triple shy of the cycle, while Hamilton also added two hits and two runs scored.
UTPB's only baserunners came on a pair of walks, one each in the first and fourth innings, and no Falcon runner reached second base. Meghan Gattis (0-12) took the loss, allowing seven runs on 11 hits over 3.1 innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Gray faced just two batters over the minimum in her 52-pitch masterpiece, recording the 31st no-hitter in LCU program history and her first complete-game shutout of the season (and of her collegiate career). She walked two and struck out two while getting 12 of her 15 outs via groundouts or flyouts.
The LCU offense quickly set the tone in the first inning, using a pair of two-out hits to jump in front. After back-to-back singles from
Kadin Vire and
Ashlinn Hamilton,
Kristen Boyd delivered a two-run double down the right field line to make it 2-0.
The Lady Chaps erupted for five runs in the fourth to blow the game open.
Kendall Ward led off with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Sophia Reyes. Vire then tripled to right field to plate Ward, and Hamilton followed with an RBI single. After pinch runner
Cat Prisock stole second and moved to third on a throwing error, Myers launched a two-run homer to center field. Levesque capped the frame by hitting the ball over the wall in left for a solo home run, making it 7-0, as she completed a pair of back-to-back homers.
LCU added one final run in the fifth without the benefit of a hit. Vire walked, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch, and scored on another wild pitch during a walk to Hamilton.
