PORTALES, N.M. (April 13, 2025) – Six different Lubbock Christian players homered on Sunday as Lubbock Christian beat Eastern New Mexico 18-8 in eight innings to split the series with the Greyhounds.

Kade York all recorded round-trippers in the game. It is tied for the second-most home runs hit in a game by the Chaps this season, only behind the eight they hit against Angelo State on

Cadon Everett (3-1) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Lubbock Christian (25-17, 24-16). The right-hander went 1.2 innings, giving up one run on one hit, allowing one walk and striking out two.
Alec Stanfield also made an impact on the mound for the Chaparrals, throwing a season-high 2.2 innings, giving up one run on one hit, with one walk and three strikeouts.

Baumbach had a team-high four hits, including a double, a home run and five RBI to lead the Chaparrals. Meanwhile, York broke an eight-game hitless streak, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and four RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman
Bryce Nall got the start for the Chaps – the first of his career – and gave up two early runs before LCU got on the board in the top of the second. They scored four times, two of which came on York's homer, to take a lead they would never relinquish.

The Greyhounds and Chaps traded solo home runs in the next two half innings, before Lubbock Christian widened the gap in the fourth. Chavez homered for a pair of runs and Baumbach drove a bases-clearing double to left center put his team ahead by seven

The Greyhounds fought back, closing the gap to 10-5 until Lubbock Christian added some insurance in the sixth. The Chaparrals left the yard three times in the inning, including back-to-back blasts by Baumbach and Gomez, on the way to scoring four runs, bringing the advantage to 14-5.

Eastern New Mexico got within 14-7 until the Chaparrals scored again in the eighth inning to stretch its lead to 18-7. The Lubbock Christian offense piled up four runs, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of York. The Greyhounds put one run on the scoreboard before in the bottom of the inning, but could not cut the deficit to nine to avoid the run-rule ending.

» Baumbach racked up four hits on the day for Lubbock Christian. It is his third four-hit game of the season, which leads the team.
» The Chaparrals now find themselves in a four-way tie for fourth place in the Lone Star Conference with two weeks left in the regular season.
» Every Lubbock Christian starter reached base safely in the win.
» York was 0-for his last-27 before the homer in the second inning. His last hit was on March 30 at St. Edward's.
