Levesque and Lady Chaps Light Up The Yard As LCU Slugs Past Mustangs In Sweep

Lady Chaps Belt Eight Homers in Doubleheader Sweep of Western New Mexico

SILVER CITY, N.M. (April 16, 2025) — Kendra Levesque went a perfect 7-for-7 at the plate and blasted three of Lubbock Christian University's eight home runs as the Lady Chaps swept a Lone Star Conference West Division doubleheader at Western New Mexico on Wednesday. Levesque extended her on-base streak to 17 consecutive plate appearances and has recorded hits in 10 straight official at-bats. LCU hit back-to-back home runs in both games, with Kristen Boyd going deep twice in a 6-2 win in the opener, followed by Levesque and Ashlinn Hamilton each homering twice in a 15-4 rout to cap the sweep at The Yard.

Game 1
Senior Kristen Boyd put together an outstanding outing at the plate in the opener, hitting two homers to help propel the Lady Chaparrals past the Mustangs 6-2.

Teoni Lamb (8-7) got the win for Lubbock Christian (29-18, 11-26). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out seven.

Boyd went 3-for-4 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with three RBI. Levesque added to Boyd's awesome power-hitting performance by going 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI along with one walk. Riley Flores also chipped in for the Lady Chaps, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Chaps broke a scoreless deadlock in the third, using a pair of long balls to seize control. After Kadin Vire walked to open the inning, Levesque launched a two-run homer to right. Boyd followed two batters later with a solo blast to center, her second homer of the season, giving LCU a 3-0 lead.

Despite leaving two on in both the second and third innings, LCU couldn't add to its advantage until the seventh. Western New Mexico (14-32) crept back into the game in the sixth, as Antonya Lucero drew a walk ahead of Abbi Markus' two-run homer to center, trimming the lead to 3-2. It was the only damage off Lamb, who otherwise scattered five hits without issuing a walk in six of the seven frames.

LCU responded immediately in the seventh. After Levesque drew a leadoff walk, pinch-runner Hayeli Acosta came around on Boyd's second home run of the game—a line shot to left that pushed the lead back to three. Kawehi Ili then doubled and scored on a two-out RBI double by Riley Flores, giving LCU six extra-base hits for the contest.
WNMU had a brief chance to rally in the seventh after a two-out single by Madison George, but Lamb got a lineout to left to close out her fifth complete-game win.

GAME NOTES
» The Lady Chaps got two home runs off the bat of Boyd, who entered the game with home runs on the season.

» Lubbock Christian got three-hit games from both Levesque and Boyd, who are each New Mexico State transfers and were playing their first games back on New Mexico soil.

» Lamb struck out seven Mustangs hitters en route to her ninth complete game of the season. She is now 17-11 in her LCU career with 19 complete games.

» The Lady Chaps had both Flores and Boyd smack multiple extra-base hits in the ballgame. LCU had a total of six in the game with three doubles and three homers.

» LCU out-hit the Mustangs at a 12-5 clip.

» Lubbock Christian pitchers faced 28 Western New Mexico hitters in the game, allowing three ground balls and 11 fly balls while striking out seven.

» Western New Mexico was led offensively by freshman A. Markus, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

Game 2
Ashlinn Hamilton homered twice and drove in six runs while Kendra Levesque went 4-for-4 with two home runs of her own to power LCU to a 15-4 rout of WNMU in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader. The Lady Chaps completed the series sweep while improving to 30-18 overall and 20-16 in Lone Star Conference play.

Freshman Natalee Gray (6-3) got the win for Lubbock Christian. The right-hander went four innings, giving up two runs on three hits, allowing three walks and striking out two. Kendall Ward also pitched well, going two shutout innings while allowing two hits and striking out one.
Levesque added a double, a walk and three RBI to her two-homer day and Hamilton supplemented her own two big flies with six RBI for the Chaparrals. Sophomore Kadin Vire also chipped in for Lubbock Christian, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double, a home run and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a double play wiped out an early baserunner in the first, LCU's offense ignited with a two-out rally that saw five straight batters reach. Levesque and Kristen Boyd singled to set the table, and Hamilton followed with a three-run homer to left. Kadin Vire immediately added a solo shot to center, capping a four-run opening frame.

Western New Mexico (14-33, 8-28) answered with an RBI single from Jenna Peters in the bottom half, and pulled within 4-2 in the second on a fielder's choice RBI from Antonya Lucero. But the Lady Chaps pulled away for good in the third. Levesque walked and Boyd doubled to right, setting up Hamilton's second three-run homer—this one to deep center. Vire doubled and eventually scored on Riley Flores' groundout, and Bailey Hughes delivered an RBI single to center to make it 9-2.

After LCU left the bases empty in the fourth, they scratched across a run in the fifth when Flores walked and scored on Kawehi Ili's groundout. Peters walked with two outs in the bottom of the inning and was replaced by pinch-runner Jadyn Hooten, who came around to score on Laryssa Morales' two-run homer—briefly trimming the deficit to 10-4.
Levesque opened the sixth with a solo shot to left, her first of two in the game, and the Lady Chaps tacked on four more in the seventh, stringing together four hits including Leveque's final homer of the day.

In all, LCU racked up 15 hits—10 for extra bases—and had 10 different players reach safely. Western New Mexico managed six hits but left eight on base.

GAME NOTES
» Levesque and Hamilton each hit multiple home runs in the ballgame. It was Levesque's second multi-home run game of the season and the first for Hamilton, who has seven on the season. Levesque's trio of home runs on the day place her with a team-leading 10 home runs this season.

» Levesque racked up a career-high four hits on the day for Lubbock Christian. She finished the doubleheader 7-for-7. She has hits in her last 10 consecutive official at-bats, which ties her for 16th in NCAA Division II record books for consecutive hits. In her last 17 plate appearances, Levesque has 10 hits and has been walked seven times. The last time she was retired was in her first at-bat on April 11 against UT Permian Basin.

» LCU hit five home runs in the contest, which is a season high and ironically the most since hitting five on Mar. 22, 2023 in Silver City. LCU has hit 13 home runs over their last five games. Prior to the start of the sequence, LCU had gone 25 games to combine for their prior 13 home runs. Wednesday home run bonanza has LCU with a 7-1 record this season when hitting at least two home runs in a game.

» Hamilton drove in a career-high six run, which is the most by a Lady Chaps member since Hope Banales had six on April 27 2023 against UT Permian Basin.

» Scoring first in each game, LCU improved to 22-7 when doing so. In this game, LCU scored in the first inning and they are now 17-3 when scoring in the opening frame.

» LCU out-hit the Mustangs at a 15-6 clip in the game and 25-11 in the doubleheader.

» Lubbock Christian went 4-for-11 (.364) with runners in scoring position, while LCU pitchers limited Western New Mexico to just 1-for-7 (.143) with runners in scoring position.

» Lubbock Christian pitchers faced 33 Western New Mexico hitters in the game, allowing 12 ground balls and four fly balls while striking out five.

» LCU improved to 8-12 on the road this season and they have won four of their last six road contests.

» Levesque's hot bat has her leading LCU with an active hit streak of nine games, which matches the best mark by a Lady Chaps member this season. Riley Flores is LCU's active leader in reaching base safely, reaching base safely in 15 consecutive games.
