Lady Chaps Drop Contest in Durango

LCU Begins LSC Play on Wednesday

DURANGO, Colo. (September 13, 2025) — Lubbock Christian had its two-game win streak snapped by a 2-0 loss to Fort Lewis on Saturday at Dirks Field.

FLC took the lead in the first half and secured the win with a second goal in the latter half. The Lady Chaps managed 12 shots, with five on target, but failed to break through the Fort Lewis defense.

LCU's record stood at 2-2-0 following their latest match. Fort Lewis remained unbeaten with a 3-0-1 record after the victory.

The first half began with both teams showing defensive strength, as Emma Wright made crucial saves for the Chaps, including one against Anna Tucker's early attempt in the first minute.

The Lady Chaps, led by Wright's solid goalkeeping, successfully fended off multiple attacks, including saves and deflections from shots by Josie Coulter and Ann Spence. Despite the defensive efforts, Fort Lewis broke the deadlock with Jenna Salazar scoring in the 36th minute, leaving the Lady Chaps trailing 1-0 at the end of the half.

The second half began with Fort Lewis capitalizing early as Salazar found the net in the 51st minute, increasing their lead to 2-0. The Lady Chaps responded with several offensive attempts, notably Ella Spiller's effort in the 52nd minute that tested Fort Lewis's goalkeeper, Trinity Lujan.

Despite consistent pressure and shots from Logan Holloway and Lexi De La Cruz, the Chaparrals were unable to breach the defense, concluding the match without breaking through.

Wright recorded four saves in the match, facing 19 shots and allowing two goals. Holloway attempted three shots, with one on target. Journey Curs also contributed with two shots, including one on goal. Spiller added two shots, one of which was on target.
