DURANGO, Colo. (September 4, 2025) — No. 6 Fort Lewis came from behind with a pair of second-half goals to defeat Lubbock Christian 2-1 at Dirks Field on Thursday.
The opening half featured a tense contest, with Lubbock Christian University taking the lead in the 22nd minute when
Pedro Lucas converted a penalty kick. It was his first goal in a Chaparral uniform.
Prior to the PK, the Chaparrals managed an early attempt by Lucas that went wide, while the Chaparral back line stood firm. The defense held strong for the rest of the opening half, navigating multiple corner kicks by Fort Lewis College and leading the Chaparrals into the break with a 1-0 lead.
The second half commenced with Lubbock Christian maintaining a strong defensive stance, highlighted by Pettigrew's crucial save at the 54th minute from a Raul Baptista Filipe shot.
Despite the early defensive efforts, Fort Lewis broke the deadlock with a goal by Alessio Andreottola in the 62nd minute, assisted by Jacob Ramos. The match reached a tense climax when Lorenz Guintini scored in the 89th minute, securing a 2-1 victory for Fort Lewis.
