ALAMOSA, Colo. — Lubbock Christian shut out Adams State with a decisive 5-0 victory on Saturday at the ASU Soccer & Lacrosse Field, with the Chaps' offense registering 28 shots and securing a clean sheet.
The Chaps improved to 1-1-0 overall after a decisive win. Adams State fell to 0-1-0 on the season.
The first half began with Lubbock Christian establishing control early, as
Pedro Lucas opened the scoring with a goal in the 19th minute, assisted by
Manu Nunez.
Building on the momentum,
Francisco Horta doubled the lead with a goal in the 21st minute, assisted by Lucas. The Chaparrals continued their dominant performance, with
Kade McKinzie scoring in the 24th minute, assisted by Horta, securing a 3-0 advantage going into halftime.
The second half began with Lubbock Christian quickly extending their lead, as Lucas scored in the 46th minute with an assist from
Kibukila Mbula.
Despite pressure from Adams State, the Chaparrals' defense held firm, while
Ty Gibbs further cemented the visitors' dominance by scoring in the 82nd minute with help from
Aron DePaula. Throughout the half, the Chaps maintained offensive pressure, consistently challenging the home team's defense, and sealing a comprehensive 5-0 victory.
