Lady Chaps Fall to No. 4 Orediggers

Wright's Five Saves Not Enough in Season-Opener

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 6, 2025) — No. 4 Colorado School of Mines secured a 3-1 victory over Lubbock Christian University on Saturday night at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex.

The Lady Chaps opened the season at 0-1-0 following the loss. The Orediggers improved to 2-0-0 overall with the victory.

The scoring began quick as Colorado School of Mines' Bella Campos found the net in the opening minute, giving them an early advantage.

Lubbock Christian responded strategically, leveling the score at 1-1 in the 20th minute when Lexi De La Cruz scored on a corner kick with assists from Journey Curs and Ella Spiller

Despite Emma Wright's efforts in goal, Colorado School of Mines regained the lead with a late goal by Natalie Rouse just before the halftime whistle, ending the half 2-1 in favor of the visitors.

Colorado School of Mines extended their lead early in the second half with a goal by Bella Campos in the 49th minute, making it 3-1. The Chaparrals' Journey Curs attempted to close the gap with multiple shots, including a close effort in the 76th minute that was saved by goalie Allie Lundgren.

Despite sustained pressure and a corner kick opportunity in the 78th minute, the Chaps were unable to capitalize, and the half ended with the score remaining 3-1 in favor of the Orediggers.
