Total Team Effort: Lady Chaps Take Down Thunderwolves

Spiller Scores Twice in LCU's First Win of the Season

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 8, 2025) — The Lady Chaps (1-1-0) secured a commanding 4-1 victory over CSU Pueblo (1-1-1) at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex on Monday.

Lubbock Christian improved to 1-1-0 overall following their victory. CSU Pueblo fell to 1-1-1 on the season after the loss.

The first half kicked off with Lubbock Christian University's defense standing firm as Emma Wright made two early saves to deny Colorado State University Pueblo. The breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Ella Spiller found the net on a bit of a flukey play. The cross from the wing came in from Kali Guy and was clipped by a defender, popping the ball up in the air. Spiller got a foot to it though, and put just enough force behind it to sneak it past the keeper and put the home team ahead.

The Chaparrals extended their lead with a goal by Lexi De La Cruz in the 42nd minute, assisted by Riley Espinoza. It was the first point for Espinoza in an LCU uniform. De La Cruz has now scored in both Lubbock Christian contests this season.

Spiller struck again just before the halftime whistle, blasting a goal into the top left corner of the net from just outside the 18-yard box and securing a 3-0 advantage heading into the break.

The second half began with the Chaparrals applying pressure early, as Spiller and Journey Curs each forced saves from CSU Pueblo's goalkeeper Alva Hellenius within the opening minutes.

Despite several attempts on goal, it wasn't until the 80th minute that the Chaparrals extended their lead to 4-0, courtesy of Mia Chambliss, who found the back of the net with an assist from Maya Quinones

CSU Pueblo managed to score a consolation goal with a penalty kick by Kenna Snyder in the 88th minute, but the Chaparrals maintained a commanding 4-1 victory at the final whistle.
