RIVALRY ON THE RANGE
The LCU/WT matchup will be the third in the 2026-27 school year's Rivalry on the Range series. Announced on August 6, 2019, the Rivalry on the Range is a year-long competition including 15 sports in which the two schools will compete against one another. The Rivalry on the Range series scoring components includes head-to-head battles in men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball and softball, with additional points available in postseason play. Fans can review the scoring system at rivalryontherange.com. The men's soccer team contribute two wins to last season's rivalry on the range matchup, including one in the postseason.

WHERE THE HEART IS
All five Chaparral wins this season have come at the friendly confines, with a 5-2-1 record on their home field in 2026. The wins have come against Adams State, Newman and Sul Ross, St. Edward's and UT Tyler. Wednesday's match is the ninth of 10 home matches for LCU this season. They have not posted more wins than losses in Lubbock since the 2022 campaign, when they were 4-2-3. The LCU Soccer & Track Complex was completed in August of 2020 and features an AstroTurf playing surface, a Musco lighting system to allow for night games and stadium seating for 500 fans. LCU's men have an all-time record of 66-42-22 in home games. The best season at home was just their second in existence, as they went 8-1-1 in 2011.

KEEPING UP WITH THE CHAPS
Lubbock Christian junior goalkeeper
Milo Paci added five more saves to his total in LCU's most recent game against Oklahoma Christian, bringing his season total to an even 50. He ranks third in the LSC in that category. Paci has faced 142 shots overall this season in more than 1000 minutes in goal. He has a 1.41 goals against average and a .758 save percentage. In last week's game against UT Dallas, Paci made a career-high 12 saves, which was the most by a Chap in a single game since 2019. Junior
Arath Valdez filled in while Paci was injured, making 14 saves in 135 minutes of action.
Â
BALANCED ATTACK
Offensive success has come from all over the field this year for the Chaps, who have a three-way tie for the team lead in points and eight total players with goals scored. The co-leaders of the offense include
Augusto Militao,
Alex Lachevre and
Joao Catafesta, although Catafesta has played center back for the last two matches. Each player has three goals and two assists. Oliver Robinson and
Aron DePaula have both scored twice, and
Jack Brassey,
Lucas Carli and
RJ Rodriguez also have goals. Robinson leads the team in both shots (28) and shots on goal (12) and ranks in the top 10 in the LSC in both of those categories.
Â
LOOKING AT THE LONE STAR
Reigning league champion Midwestern State is still clinging to a one-point lead in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 5-0-1 record, just ahead of St. Mary's at 5-0. The two teams meet in the last game of the regular season, which could set up a winner-take-the-title game later this month. Oklahoma Christian is the only other LSC to have reached the double-digit point mark at 3-0-3. The Chaps find themselves in a four-way tie for fifth place with UT Dallas, West Texas A&M and St. Edward's. The top six teams by points at the end of the regular season will advance to the LSC Postseason Tournament.
Â
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Lubbock Christian lost a lot from their 2025 LSC runner-up team, which means the 2026 edition of the Chaps have been relying on a number of newcomers. Of the five LCU players who have started all eight games so far this year, three – goalkeepers
Milo Paci and
Arath Valdez, defender
Max Moorahrend and midfielder
Alex Lachevre – are brand new to LCU. The Chaparral leader in shots with 20 – forward
Oli Robinson – is also new, and the Chaps have also relied heavily on newcomers
Finn Wijnen,
Tom Unwin and
Jackson Preece.
Â
SCOUTING THE BUFFS
- West Texas A&M averages less than one goal per game, which is the second-fewest in the conference, ahead of only Sul Ross
- The Buffs have scored more than one goal in only two games this season – their season-opener against Adams State, which they won 4-0, and the Sept. 26 contest against UT Tyler, where they scored three
- Three different goalkeepers have seen significant playing time so far this year, led by Bryce Cottle, who has 19 saves and a .760 save percentage with two shutouts
- The Buffs are allowing an average of 1.62 goals per game this year, but a whopping seven of those came in the second game of the season in a loss to Fort Lewis
- Six different Buffs have scored goals this season, including four players with multiple goals
Â
 A WIN ON WEDNESDAY WOULD:
• Be the 134th in Lubbock Christian program history (133-116-42)
• Be the 33rd under head coach
Collin Cone (32-33-21)
• Be the Chaps' 11
TH win all-time against the Buffs since the series began in 2013 (10-11-1) and their third straight in the matchup
