LUBBOCK, Texas (October 7, 2026) — Lubbock Christian used goals from
Journey Curs and
Claire Jacobson to defeat Tex. A&M International 2-1 on Wednesday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex. The Lady Chaps were out-shot 18 to 15, including 9 to 5 in shots on goal, but Jacobson found the back of the net in the 79th minute to win the game.Â
The Lady Chaps are 8-2-3 overall and 5-1-3 in conference play. Texas A&M International is 2-8-0 overall and 2-6-0 in conference play.
The Lady Chaps generated looks from early looks from Curs and Jacobson, while
Emma Wright helped keep the match scoreless through TAMIU pressure that included multiple shots and corners between the 15th and 24th minutes.Â
Kali Guy hit the woodwork in the 22nd minute, before
Journey Curs put the Lady Chaps in front in the 29th minute, finishing a Jacobson assist by chipping the ball over the keeper's head. Texas A&M International answered in the 34th minute on Julissa Gonzalez's goal, and Wright added more saves later in the half as the teams went into halftime tied 1-1.
Early in the second half, LCU created chances through
Samantha Simpson and Curs, both forcing saves from Patricia Perez, while Wright handled a shot from Lisa Stoico in the 74th minute to keep the match level at 1-1. After a corner kick and a
Maya Quinones attempt in the 73rd minute, the Lady Chaps' pressure continued into the final 20 minutes and led to Jacobson's go-ahead goal.Â
It was a corner kick that allowed Lubbock Christian to take the lead. Curs took the set piece, which ricocheted off bodies, including Jacobson's, and into the back of the net. The Lady Chaps kept attacking after taking the lead, with
Logan Holloway putting a shot on frame and
Kaslee Roskelley and Jacobson adding attempts, while TAMIU managed shots but did not find an equalize before the final horn sounded.

- The Lady Chaps are up to 18 points in the Lone Star Conference standings, putting them in sole possession of fourth place
- The Lady Chaps are now 15-2-0 all time against Texas A&M International in the all-time series and have not lost to the Dustdevils since 2023
- With a goal and an assist, Curs is now up to 15 points on the season, which ranks her inside the top 10 in the conference

Claire Jacobson's three-point game is just the second of her collegiate career; the first and only other came on Oct. 24, 2024, against Eastern New Mexico. It was the third game-winning goal of her career
