ALOHA!
Lubbock Christian women's basketball is making its third trip to Hawaii and third visit to Honolulu in 2026-27, entering the trip with a perfect 4-0 record in games played in the state. The Lady Chaps first traveled to Oahu for the 2013-14 Oahu Classic, defeating BYU-Hawaii 75-48 and Hawaii Pacific 92-80. LCU returned for the 2021 Oahu Thanksgiving Classic, beating Minnesota Crookston 62-42 before earning a 73-52 road win over Hawaii Pacific. Through two games of the this season's Hoops in Hawaii Tip-Off Classic, LCU is 1-1, as they fell Friday to Winona State and bounced back with a decisive win Saturday over Western Colorado, which has LCU with a 5-1 all-time record in Hawaii.

SATURDAY'S HAWAIIAN PUNCH-BACK
LCU rebounded from its season-opening loss with a commanding 80-49 victory over Western Colorado Saturday. The Lady Chaparrals (1-1) shot 58.6% from the field, including a blistering 73.3% in the third quarter, outscoring the Mountaineers 24-10 to build a 63-35 advantage. Sophomore Mattie Dollar matched her career high with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting, adding career highs of five assists and three steals. Meg Meekins contributed 17 points, while Ally Ihler registered a career-high 10 points. LCU dominated the paint 52-22 and converted 19 Western Colorado turnovers into 24 points. Ten Lady Chaps scored, and LCU recorded 17 assists and 11 steals. Penelope Urquhart led Western Colorado with 15 points and nine rebounds. The 31-point victory marked LCU's largest winning margin immediately following a loss since February 2019.

HAWAIIAN TOPICS
- Mattie Dollar has emerged as LCU's leading offensive producer through two games, averaging 20.0 points while shooting 60.9% (14-of-23) from the field and 50% (5-of-10) from three-point range. Dollar opened the tournament with a career-high 20 points against Winona State before matching that total against Western Colorado, shooting 9-of-11 from the field. She has already matched her entire freshman-season total of five made three-pointers. Dollar also leads LCU with five assists and has contributed three steals. Her 40 points account for 29.9% of LCU's tournament scoring, and she is the only Lady Chap to reach double figures in both contests.

- LCU has displayed impressive offensive efficiency through two games, shooting 48.6% from the field and 43.2% (16-of-37) from three-point range, averaging eight made three-pointers per contest. The Lady Chaps opened the tournament connecting on their first five three-point attempts against Winona State before erupting for 80 points on 58.6% shooting against Western Colorado. Sophomores have combined for 94 of LCU's 134 points (70.1%), led by Mattie Dollar (40), Meg Meekins (19), Kyndle Cunningham (15), Ally Ihler (10) and Kaitlyn McAdoo (5). LCU has averaged 67.0 points while holding opponents to 53.5, with 10 different Lady Chaps scoring in Saturday's victory.

- The Lady Chaps have capitalized on defensive pressure, forcing 32 turnovers while committing just 22, producing a plus-5.0 turnover margin through two tournament games. LCU has converted those miscues into 46 points off turnovers, including 24 against Western Colorado, while averaging 8.0 steals per contest. Opponents are shooting just 34.6% from the field and 22.2% from three-point range. Rebounding remains a concern, however, with LCU averaging 27.5 boards compared to 36.0 for opponents. Winona State exploited that disparity with 20 offensive rebounds and 21 second-chance points, although LCU responded by outscoring Western Colorado 52-22 in the paint Saturday.

WHO THEY FACE
- Alaska Anchorage enters Sunday's fifth-place game against LCU with a 1-1 record after splitting its first two games at the Hoops in Hawaii Tip-Off Classic. The Seawolves opened with a 74-52 loss to No. 2 Colorado Mesa before rebounding with an 83-52 victory over Chaminade on Saturday. UAA had five players score in double figures against the Silverswords, led by Bridgette Tello's 16 points, while Lillee Duffin registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Sheridan Liggett added 13 points, and freshman Kinzley Larsen contributed 11 points and four steals. The Seawolves shot 50.7% from the field and dominated the boards 48-24. Tello, a transfer from Texas A&M International, leads UAA in tournament scoring at 14.5 points per game, followed by Larsen at 10.0.

- The Seawolves have displayed a strong interior presence through two games, averaging 37.5 rebounds and holding a plus-7.5 rebounding margin. UAA is shooting 45.8% from the field while holding opponents to 37.7%, but perimeter shooting has been a struggle, with the Seawolves connecting on just 19.6% (9-of-46) of their three-point attempts. Ball security has also been an issue, with UAA averaging 19.0 turnovers per contest. Duffin leads the team with 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 77.8% (7-of-9) from the floor. Fellow post Bella Hays is shooting 85.7% (6-of-7). UAA has also surrendered 54 free-throw attempts while attempting just 26, with opponents outscoring the Seawolves 39-16 at the charity stripe.

- Alaska Anchorage is under second-year head coach Matt Thune, whose Seawolves were picked sixth in the GNAC preseason poll after finishing 16-11 last season. Sophomore Mylee Anderson and Montana State Billings transfer Kyla Momberg earned preseason All-GNAC recognition. UAA's rebuilt roster features seven transfers, including former Texas A&M International teammates Bridgette Tello and Jayden Smallwood, who are familiar with LCU from Lone Star Conference competition. Tello spent the previous two seasons at TAMIU, scoring nine points against the Lady Chaparrals in each of her two meetings, while Smallwood scored four points against LCU last season.

HISTORY WITH UAA
The Lady Chaps were a Cinderella story in 2015-16, claiming a NCAA Div. II women's basketball national title in their inaugural season of NCAA postseason eligibility and UAA served as the Royal Guard to LCU's Cinderella story, as LCU edged the Seawolves 78-73 in Indianapolis to claim their first national title in program history. The April 4, 2016 meeting has been the only prior meeting between the two teams. Additionally of note, if you include Sunday's meeting, each meeting will be neutral site meetings, and their meeting in Honolulu will actually be closer to Anchorage than their Indianapolis meeting (by roughly 230 miles).

PRIOR MEETING WITH UAA
Indianapolis, Ind. – Apr. 4, 2016: Top-ranked LCU completed a historic 35-0 season with a 78-73 victory over Alaska Anchorage in the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championship game, becoming the first program to win a national title in its first season of NCAA eligibility and just the third Division II women's basketball team to finish undefeated. Kelsey Hoppel led the Lady Chaparrals with a season-high 27 points, including four three-pointers, while Nicole Hampton delivered 22 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists and seven steals. Haley Fowler added 15 points, and Kellyn Schneider recorded five blocks. LCU led for more than 35 minutes and built a 71-57 fourth-quarter advantage before surviving a late Seawolves rally. Alaska Anchorage received 23 points and 12 rebounds from Megan Mullings and 14 points from Jessica Madison. The victory secured LCU's first NCAA Division II national championship and capped a perfect inaugural NCAA postseason run.
