LCU Sweeps, Then Surges: Lady Chaps Cap Road Swing with Pair of Wins

Lubbock Christian Dominates Hardin-Simmons Before Rallying Past Southeastern Oklahoma State to Close Road Trip

LUBBOCK, Texas (March 22, 2026) – Lubbock Christian completed a late-added road swing with a dominant 7-0 win over Hardin-Simmons Saturday at the Streich Tennis Center in Abilene before rallying for a 4-2 victory Sunday in Durant, Okla. at Southeastern Oklahoma State.

The first meeting in program history between LCU and Hardin-Simmons was decided early in doubles, as Andrea De Bernardo and AnaMaria Zoric (22/-) quickly set the tone with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles in the first match to finish, and Kristel Jativa and Ana Sofía Valero Treviño followed shortly after with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles to clinch the point before the No. 2 result was completed. LCU then swept through singles in convincing fashion.

Zoric delivered the first singles point with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles, Kristel Jativa followed moments later with a 6-0, 6-0 result at No. 4, and Oshini Herath made it 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 to clinch the dual. Aitanna Moreno Villa extended the lead with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6, Andrea De Bernardo closed out a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 1 position, and Ana Sofía Valero Treviño completed the sweep with a three-set victory at No. 5 singles (4-6, 6-1, 10-7).

The Lady Chaps were forced to respond the following day in Durant after dropping the doubles point to Southeastern Oklahoma State, as the Savage Storm swept the doubles courts with the No. 2 match finishing first and the other two matches following shortly after.

LCU answered immediately in singles behind its top of the lineup. Zoric again provided the first singles point with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2, and Andrea De Bernardo followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles to take a 2-1 lead in the dual.

Kristel Jativa then delivered another straight-set win at No. 4 singles (6-2, 6-1) to extend the LCU lead, before Ana Sofía Valero Treviño fell at No. 5 to make the score 3-2. The dual ultimately turned at No. 3 singles, where Oshini Herath recovered from a first-set loss to rally for a 1-6, 6-1, 7-5 victory, clinching the match before the unfinished No. 6 singles court could be completed.

Zoric and De Bernardo were once again the tone-setters for LCU, as the No. 1 doubles pairing entered the weekend on a nine-match winning streak and still holds an 8-1 record in the No. 1 spot this season, while Zoric extended her team-leading singles total to 15 wins and pushed her winning streak to nine straight with two wins at No. 2 singles. Jativa also continued one of the strongest stretches of the spring, improving to 14-5 overall and extending her winning streak to eight matches while remaining unbeaten in dual singles play. De Bernardo added her sixth straight singles win and improved to 7-2 at No. 1 singles, while Herath's comeback victory at No. 3 singles proved to be the decisive result in the win over Southeastern Oklahoma State.

With the two road victories, LCU (8-3) improved to 4-0 all-time against Southeastern Oklahoma State and prepares to return to Lone Star Conference play Friday at UT Dallas before traveling to UT Tyler on Saturday.
