LUBBOCK, Texas (April 19, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University had as many home runs as hits allowed in a Lone Star Conference doubleheader sweep of Texas A&M International Sunday afternoon at Maner Park, as the Lady Chaps hit five home runs, two by
Alexis Pacheco, and held the Dustdevils to five hits, including a
Lexi Clark complete-game one-hitter, in an 8-0 (in 5 innings) and 9-2 victory at Maner Park.
GAME 1
LCU produced offense in every inning and backed it with a dominant outing from
Lexi Clark in the circle, as the Lady Chaparrals rolled to an 8-0 run-rule victory over Texas A&M International in the opening game of the doubleheader.
LCU improved to 22-19 overall and 17-13 in league play, while TAMIU dropped to 12-32 overall and 8-23 in the LSC. Clark (9-7) was efficient in the win, tossing a one-hit shutout over five innings with four strikeouts and one walk. The Lady Chaps tallied 10 hits and drew seven walks, with
Kadin Vire leading the way with a 2-for-2 performance, including a triple and two RBI.
Alexis Pacheco added a home run and finished with two RBI, while
Brianna Chambers-Lee drove in two runs and
Coryn Burris contributed a pair of hits and an RBI.
Nevaeh Herrera (4-13) took the loss for TAMIU after allowing four runs on four hits and five walks in 1.2 innings, while Queenandra Dunn accounted for the Dustdevils' lone hit.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lubbock Christian wasted little time establishing control, striking for two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Riley Flores led off with a single before Vire delivered an RBI triple down the right-field line. Chambers-Lee followed with an RBI single to give LCU an early 2-0 advantage.
The Lady Chaps extended the lead in the second inning, capitalizing on patience at the plate.
Ava Castillo reached and stole second, and after a pair of walks loaded the bases, Vire and Chambers-Lee each drew bases-loaded walks to push the lead to 4-0.
After Clark kept TAMIU off the board through the first three innings, LCU broke the game open in the third.
Piper Garcia reached base ahead of Pacheco, who launched a two-run home run to left field to extend the margin to 6-0.
LCU continued to add on in the fourth, as Burris lined an RBI single to score Chambers-Lee and make it 7-0. The Lady Chaps then ended the game in the fifth inning, taking advantage of a fielding error after Pacheco doubled to set up the run-rule walk-off.
Clark remained in complete control throughout, allowing just one hit and retiring the side in order in three separate innings, including a perfect fifth to secure the shutout victory.

Lexi Clark pitched her second complete game one-hitter of the season. It was her fourth complete game of the season and all have been complete game shutouts, as she has four shutouts and has been a part of two combined shutouts.
» The shutout victory was LCU's seventh shutout win of the season.

Kadin Vire, who was 2-for-2, hit her fifth triple of the season. It is the highest single-season total by a Lady Chaps member since Savannah Wysocki had seven during the 2022 season. Vire has seven for her LCU career.
» A unique play happened in the bottom of the fourth inning, with LCU up 6-0.
Brianna Chambers-Lee hit her first home run of the season, but it was negated, as Vire, the runner at first base, was called out for leaving early, which wiped the home run off the board. With the ruling the same as "no pitch," Chambers-Lee had to return to the plate, where she eventually walked.
» LCU was 5-for-5 getting their leadoff batter aboard base (five different batters were 1-for-1 reaching in leadoff at-bats.
GAME 2
LCU erupted for four home runs and received a csolid five-inning pitching effort from
Kendall Ward to secure a 9-2 win over Texas A&M International, completing the doubleheader sweep.
The Lady Chaps improved to 23-19 overall and 19-13 in conference play, while TAMIU slipped to 12-33 overall and 8-24 in the LSC. Ward (6-3) delivered a steady performance in the circle, allowing just two runs (one earned) on three hits without issuing a walk and striking out four across five innings.
Offensively, the Lady Chaps produced 11 hits, led by
Alexis Pacheco, who went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI, while
Kadin Vire added a home run, double, and two RBI.
Piper Garcia and
Coryn Burris each homered, with Garcia driving in two runs.
For TAMIU, Victoria Espinoza accounted for half of the Dustdevils' hits and delivered a solo home run, while Kylie Goad (6-16) took the loss after surrendering nine runs (eight earned) over 4.1 innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lubbock Christian wasted no time setting the tone, striking for two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Kadin Vire opened the scoring with a solo home run to left field, and
Coryn Burris followed later in the frame with a solo shot of her own to give LCU a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Chaps extended their advantage in the second inning behind a three-run outburst. After
Alexis Pacheco reached base,
Piper Garcia launched a two-run home run to center field. Later in the inning, Vire delivered an RBI double to right-center, pushing the lead to 5-0.
LCU added another run in the third inning, taking advantage of a defensive miscue. Pacheco came around to score on a throwing error following a stolen base by
Lexi Clark, extending the margin to 6-0.
Texas A&M International broke through in the fourth inning, as Victoria Espinoza connected on a solo home run to center field to trim the deficit to 6-1. The Dustdevils added another run in the fifth, capitalizing on an LCU error to make it 6-2.
Lubbock Christian answered immediately in the bottom half of the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.
Ashlinn Hamilton singled ahead of Pacheco, who delivered a two-run home run to center field.
Later in the inning,
Kenzie Kauk added an RBI double to score
Lexi Clark and extend the lead to 9-2.
Reese Farrar entered in the sixth inning and allowed one hit over the final two innings and stranding a runner in the seventh to help secure the victory.

» Kendra Ward, who has 13 career saves, made her sixth start of the season (seventh of her career) and improved her career pitching record to 12-5.
» LCU produced 11 hits for their 13
th game this season with at least 10 hits. They have at least 10 hits in three consecutive games.

» Vire is LCU's active leader with a nine-game hit streak, and she actively leads LCU with a streak of 10 consecutive games reaching base safely. She went a combined 4-for-5 with a double, triple and home run for a trio of extra-base hits. Vire produced four RBI on the afternoon.
» Pacheco had a strong afternoon at the plate, going 4-for-5 in the combined two games. She had a double and two home runs with four RBI. Her two doubles were nearly home runs, as they each hit off the top of the wall. Her entire 4-for-5 performance at the plate came with runners on base.

» The doubleheader sweep marked LCU's ninth doubleheader sweep of the season (fifth at home), matching the most since they had nine in 2023.
HISTORY LESSON
LCU's sweep of the Dustdevils has them with wins in four straight meetings (6 in the last seven meetings) and with a 29-11 all-time series lead (16-4 at home). The teams have met seven consecutive times in Lubbock, which followed a string of five straight meetings in Laredo.
