Five-Game Win Streak Snapped, as No. 13 Angelo State Sweeps LCU

Angelo State Claims 9-3 And 5-4 Wins To Complete Lone Star Conference Sweep

SAN ANGELO, Texas (April 24, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University had their five-game win streak halted Friday at Mayer Field, as No.13 Angelo State topped the Lady Chaparrals 9-3 and 5-4  in a Lone Star Conference doubleheader.

GAME 1
Angelo State used a fast start and capitalized on defensive miscues to claim a 9-3 victory over Lubbock Christian University in the opening game of their doubleheader.

The Rambelles (39-9, 28-5 LSC) scored three runs in the first inning and never trailed, while Lubbock Christian (23-20, 19-14 LSC) was limited to five hits in the contest.

Freshman Maddison Ruiz (11-4) earned the win in the circle for Angelo State, allowing two runs on two hits over 4.1 innings with six strikeouts, while Addy Ewing recorded her third save after allowing one run over the final 2.2 innings.

LCU freshman Lexi Clark (9-8) took the loss, surrendering seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits over 4.2 innings. Offensively, Kenzie Kauk led the Lady Chaps with a 2-for-3 performance, including a two-run home run, while Alexis Pacheco added a hit and scored a run.

Angelo State was paced by Tatiana Trotter, who went 2-for-2 with a home run, double, two RBI and three runs scored, while Ashleigh Dendas and Abby Brand each collected two hits in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Angelo State wasted little time taking control, plating three runs on five hits in the opening frame. Karli Manney led off with a single and later scored on Zoey Sifuentes' RBI single. Tatiana Trotter followed with an RBI double and came around to score on Ashleigh Dendas' base hit, giving the Rambelles a 3-0 lead.

After three scoreless innings, Angelo State added an unearned run in the fourth. Kamryn Loeffler tripled to right-center and later scored following a throwing error, extending the advantage to 4-0.

Lubbock Christian broke through in the fifth inning. Coryn Burris was hit by a pitch to open the frame before Kenzie Kauk delivered a two-run home run to left field, trimming the deficit to 4-2.

The Rambelles answered immediately in the bottom half. Trotter led off with a solo home run, and Angelo State added two more runs in the inning, highlighted by a sacrifice fly from Larryn Feuge and aggressive baserunning that included a steal of home on a trick play, pushing the lead to 7-2.

Angelo State extended the margin in the sixth, capitalizing on a walk and defensive miscues to score two more runs and build a 9-2 cushion. LCU added a run in the seventh inning when Alexis Pacheco singled and later scored on a fielder's choice by Riley Flores, but the Lady Chaps were unable to generate further offense.

Angelo State's early surge and constant pressure on the bases proved decisive, as the Rambelles totaled 12 hits and took advantage of four LCU errors to control the game from start to finish.

GAME NOTES
» LCU matched a season-high with four errors in the game.

» Kenzie Kauk, a first-year Lady Chap and Seminole State College transfer, hit her first home run of the season and as a member of the Lady Chaps. She also finished with a pair of RBI to match a season high with her second multi-RBI game of the season.

» Julie Muniz had a pinch-hit base hit to match the team lead in pinch-hit hits, joining Kauk, as each have three on the season.

Later in the inning, Ashlinn Hamilton doubled and Coryn Burris followed with an RBI-double (back-to-back doubles) to center, giving the Lady Chaps a 3-2 advantage.

The Rambelles evened the score in the fourth inning. Ashleigh Dendas singled and later scored on a two-out RBI single by Taylor Haywood, tying the game at 3-3.

Both teams were held scoreless in the fifth, as Maddison Ruiz entered in relief and worked around traffic to keep the game even.

Angelo State regained control in the sixth inning. Trotter singled to open the frame and moved into scoring position before Dendas delivered an RBI-double to put the Rambelles back in front. Abby Brand followed with a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 5-3.
