Lady Chaps Finish 11th Nationally in Team GPA, Extending WBCA Academic Top 25 Streak to 13 Consecutive Seasons

ATLANTA, Ga. (July 24, 2026) — The Lubbock Christian University women's basketball program earned another national academic distinction, ranking 11th among NCAA Division II programs in the 2025-26 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.

LCU completed the academic year with a 3.775 cumulative team grade-point average. The recognition marks the Lady Chaparrals' 13th consecutive appearance on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll, as the program has been included every season since beginning its transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II in 2013.

The Lady Chaps have placed among the top 11 NCAA Division II programs in team GPA in each of the past 10 seasons. During that span, LCU has recorded nine top-10 finishes, including four top-four placements and the nation's highest Division II team GPA during the 2020-21 season.

LCU was the only Lone Star Conference programs included in the Division II Top 25. Mercy University led the Division II rankings with a 3.853 GPA, followed by Florida Southern at 3.849 and Embry-Riddle (Fla.) at 3.841.

The academic recognition followed another NCAA postseason season for the Lady Chaps. LCU finished the 2025-26 campaign with a 23-8 overall record and a 15-5 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Lady Chaps advanced to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional, making the program's 10th NCAA postseason appearance.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes women's basketball programs across the country that record the highest combined GPAs within their respective divisions. The GPA includes every student-athlete listed on a team's roster throughout the season. Programs must produce a team GPA of at least 3.0 and be nominated by a head coach who is a WBCA member.

The 2025-26 season marked the 31st year in which the WBCA compiled its Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls. A total of 119 teams were ranked across NCAA Divisions I, II and III, the NAIA and two-year colleges.
