LUBBOCK, Texas (August 30, 2026) — Lubbock Christian University got their first win of the 2026 season with a 3–1 victory over Wayland Baptist on Sunday at the LCU Soccer & Track Complex. The Chaparrals registered 20 shots, with nine on target, while their defense held WBU to a single goal.
LCU established an early advantage in the first half. The Lady Chaps pushed a long pass into the box that was bobbled by the WBU keeper, and
Mia Chambliss was there to clean it up, putting the Lady Chaps ahead 1–0.
Kara Murray, in goal, made a key save in the 11th minute, stopping a shot from the Pioneers' Tannia Diaz and ensuring the Lady Chaps maintained their lead.
Throughout the period, the Lady Chaps created multiple scoring opportunities, including attempts from
Ceci Madrid and Chambliss, although they were unable to extend the lead. The period concluded with the Lady Chaps holding a 1–0 advantage over WBU.
They finally broke through for a second goal in the 57th minute, using a set piece to double their lead.
Journey Curs took the corner kick, which found the head of
Araceli Patterson who pushed it toward
Kenzie Tosch, who headed it home.
WBU responded with a goal from Ashley Perez in the 82nd minute after a pair of Lady Chap saves, narrowing the score to 2–1 and adding tension to the closing stages.
LCU continued to press forward, and with just two seconds left,
Kaslee Roskelley found the net, assisted by
Logan Holloway, closing out the game with a 3-1 win.
Tosch recorded the game-winning goal, converting one of her two shots on target. Holloway contributed with an assist while also posting two shots on goal. Murray tended the net effectively, making one save in her 35 minutes of play without allowing any goals.
Dylan Smith and
Nancy Taylor followed Murray in goal, both making their first-ever collegiate appearances.

Mia Chambliss's sixth-minute goal was the earliest score in a game by a Lady Chap since September 20, 2023, when Kenley Blevins scored in the third minute of a game against Eastern New Mexico.

Logan Holloway's last-second assist gave her the team lead in points with three already this season. It was the first assist of her collegiate career.
- The Chaparrals improved to 7-1-1 all time against the Pioneers since the all-time series began in 2011.
- The goals from Tosch and Roskelley were both their first in a Chaparral uniform. LCU has now tallied four goals this season by four different players.
- Playing her first game since November 7, 2024, the Lady Chaps were led in shots by
