GUNNISON, Colo. (September 3, 2026) — Lubbock Christian University's offense exploded on Thursday in an 8-2 win against Western Colorado at Kate O. Rady Field. LCU scored five times in the first half and finished with a 23-13 advantage in shots, including 13 on goal.
The eight goals scored by the Lady Chaps are the the third-most in a single game in program history and the most since Sept. 22, 2019, when they beat UT Permian Basin 11-0. They have only scored more than eight goals one other time in program history, on Sept. 3, 2012 in a game LCU also won 11-0 at Wiley College.
Lubbock Christian put early pressure on the Mountaineers with shots from
Sydney Smith in the opening three minutes before
Journey Curs headed home a
Riley Espinoza corner kick at the 7:51 mark.
Claire Jacobson then took advantage of some sloppy Mountaineer play less than a minute later, when she stole the ball deep in the LCU offensive third and scored at 8:38 to make it 2-0.
The Lady Chaps kept the attack going with five shots and three corner kicks from 14:36 to 23:32, including a Jacobson shot saved by WCU goalkeeper Addison Blick, an Espinoza attempt off the left woodwork and a
Kenzie Tosch shot saved.
Trinity Doom scored the third LCU goal off a
Kaslee Roskelley free kick at 24:00, Curs added her second on a deep strike in the 36th minute, and after WCU got on the board, Chambliss answered from a
Ceci Madrid assist at 41:14 for the 5-1 score at the break.
Smith got the scoring going early again with goal at the 54:44 mark in the second half to make it 6-1, but the Mountaineers answered less than a minute later. It would be all
Logan Holloway to finish out the Lady Chap offensive outburst in the game's final 30 minutes.
She scored twice off
Lauren Rotan assists in a span of just over three minutes. Her first time finding the back of the net came in the 72nd minute and shortly after the game was restarted, Rotan found her with a nice through ball that left Holloway on a breakaway for the eighth and final goal of the game.
Emma Wright saved Welsh's shot shortly after the first Holloway goal, and the Lady Chaps continued to test Blick late before the whistle sounded.
Curs scored twice and led the Lady Chaps with six shots, putting three on goal.
Logan Holloway added two goals on two shots, both on frame. Rotan recorded two assists. Doom scored the game-winning goal on her lone shot attempt.
GAME NOTES:
- Rotan assisted both of Holloway's goals, making her the first Lady Chap with multiple helpers in one game since Sept. 9, 2023, when
Lexi De La Cruz had three assists against New Mexico Highlands
- The multi-goal games by Curs and Holloway were both the first of their collegiate careers and the first by a Lady Chap this season
- With four more points on her two goals,
Logan Holloway currently ranks second in the Lone Star Conference with seven points
- Jacobson, Doom and Smith all scored their first goals of the season. Eight different Lady Chaps have now scored at least once this season
- The Lady Chaps have not allowed a corner kick in back-to-back games. They also did not allow a corner kick in the second half of the Fort Lewis game. They have not allowed an opponent corner kick in 254 minutes and 22 seconds of playing time.
