Chaps Drop Road Contest 2-0

LCU Plays Man Down for 80 Minutes

DENVER (September 4, 2026) — Playing a man down for nearly the entire match, Lubbock Christian University fell 2-0 to MSU-Denver on Friday at The Assembly Athletic Complex.

The Chaparrals are now1-2-0 overall while the Roadrunners improved to 1-1-1 overall.

LCU fell to the red-card disadvantage after Finn Wijnen was sent off in the 10th minute, but the Chaps kept the game deadlocked for 25 minutes without allowing even a shot. Offensive chances started coming though, as MSUD attempted a shot that was blocked in the 28th minute and Augusto Militao took the Chaps' listed shot in that sequence at 28:43, sending it out top.

A miscue from the Chaps five minutes later put them behind on an own goal, and the Roadrunners led 1-0 at the break.

The Chaps quickly faced a 2-0 deficit just two minutes into the second half when MSUD's Ismael Reyes scored off Charlie Lucero's assist early in the second half.

Milo Paci recorded a save on Colin McKenna's shot in the 54th minute to keep the deficit there, and the Chaparrals continued to defend through Roadrunners pressure that included a 61:01 corner and repeated offside calls against the home side.

Offense was hard to come by still down a defender, and Oliver Robinson took the Chaps' last shot in the 76th minute, but the visitors could not cut into the deficit and the match finished with the Roadrunners ahead 2-0.

GAME NOTES:
- Aron DePaula led all Chaps field players with 81 minutes on the field. He is second on the team this season with 237 minutes played.
- The Chaps had fewer corner kicks than their opponent for the first time this season. They drew one corner while allowing three by the Roadrunners.
- Augusto Militao and Oli Robinson had the Chaps' two shots in the match. The two remain tied for the team lead with eight shots apiece.
- The Chaparrals are now 0-3-1 all time against MSUD, including 0-2 in matches played in Colorado. Furthermore, they are 8-11-0 all time when playing in the state of Colorado overall.
