Biography
2014-15 (REDSHIRTING): Served a redshirt season. Also played softball and was a vital part of LCU claiming a Heartland Conference regular season title.
2013-14 (JUNIOR): Kelsey claimed Second Team All-Heartland Conference honors, leading LCU with 61 three-pointers (second in the conference). She was second on the squad and tied for 12th in the conference with an average of 14.4 points a game. Hoppel led the conference in three-point shooting percentage (46.9%) and with a school single-season record 93.8% free-throw shooting percentage. She also ranked fifth in conference field goal shooting (51.9%).
2012-13 (SOPHOMORE): Hoppel appeared in 35 games while scoring 419 points which was third most on the team. Kelsey's numbers from behind the arch went up as she shot .451 which was second highest on the team as well as leading the team with 74 three-pointers made, which also ties a single season record. Hoppel would recieve Academic All-SAC honors, and honorable mention All-SAC, as well as being named to the SAC All-Tournament team.
2011-12 (FRESHMAN): Kelsey started her first season with the LCU playing in 34 games. She would tally 192 points. She would come up with 47 shots from three point range and also came up with 61 rebounds.
High School
Hoppel, the daughter of Monty and Rita Hoppel, chose LCU over Charleston Southern and Southeastern Louisiana. She is a product of Midland High School, where she lettered four seasons and claimed four First Team All-District selections. Her senior season, the TABC All-Star averaged 16.0 points, leading Midland to a 32-5 record and the Region I-5A finals. As a junior, the three-time Midland High Offensive Player of the Year averaged 11.6 points a game and shot 41% from three-point range for the 34-3 squad. Hoppel has found success each season with the Lady Dawgs. She was named the District Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and followed her sophomore season averaging 10.9 points a game and averaging 18 points in three playoff contests. Was a star on the softball diamond as well for MHS.
