Biography

Junior Season

Atkins started in 31 games for the Lady Chaps before falling to injury during the SAC Conference Tournament.  She would score 404 points, shooting .399 from the field and .359 from behind the arch.

 

Sophomore Season

Emily started in all 34 games for LCU during her second season.  Atkins scored 467 points while shooting .368 from the field and .370 from three-point range.  Emily had 197 attempts from the free throw line which is fith most in a single season and shot .797 from the line along with 127 rebounds.

 

Freshman Season

 

A solid freshman season, Atkins claimed NAIA All-American (Honorable Mention) honors and was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-SAC member after leading the team in points with 484, with an average of 14.7 per game? Also led team from the field shooting 147/336 with a shooting percentage of .438, led the team in free throws made with 150 (out of 201), including a game winner against conference rival Oklahoma City? She finished third on team in three-pointers with 40 while shooting .357 behind the arch, rebounds with 131, assists with 74, and in steals with 29... In her first home game, she set the Rip Griffin Center single-game scoring mark with 36 points and it was part of a double-double against Northern New Mexico College with 36 points and 11 rebounds? She led LCU at the NAIA National Championship tournament with an average of 16.3 points a game, including a 27-point performance against Columbia College.

 

In High School

Emily joins LCU from Crandall High School in Crandall southeast of Dallas. She was a multi-sport star receiving state-wide honors in both basketball and track & field. Atkins claimed First Team All-Region honors as a junior and was the District 12-3A Offensive MVP. She had quite the senior year to remember claiming TABC All-State accolades in basketball and was the District 12-3A MVP. She joined LCU teammate Haley Burton in the 1-3A TABC State All-Star Game, where they were teammates. Following her basketball season, she claimed her second consecutive state title in the Section A Shot Put of the Texas Relays. She also finished second in the discus.
