Merrell recorded a pair of third-place finishes in the 5K, beginning at the NMJC Invitational, finishing with a time of 20:37.7. The next week, Merrell set a new personal best in the event and another third-place finish, recording a time of 19:36.0 at the D-II Preview. In the 6.275K at the ACU Naimadu Classic, she finished the race with a time of 24:41.7. Merrell closed out the season with a new personal best in the 6K at the NCAA South Central Regional, finishing with a time of 23:16.1.
