EASTERN NEW MEXICO (3-5-1) AT LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (2-3-0) - 3PM LCU SOCCER FIELDLUBBOCK, Texas (October 2, 2014) – The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals play their final pre-Heartland Conference tilt Thursday at LCU Soccer field, as they play host to Eastern New Mexico University at 3 p.m.
CHAPS FLIGHT DECK• The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals are 2-3-0 on the season after defeating Texas-Permian Basin 6-3 on the road in a non-conference contest Sept. 25.
• The Chaps are playing five of their next seven games at home.
• LCU, 5-3-1 in home games last season, is 0-1-0 at home this season and 21-9-4 all-time at home.
STORY LINES• The Chaparrals have not played at game yet at LCU Soccer Field in the regular season this year. Weather hampered much of September and they had to play their home opener (Sept. 11) against Southwest (N.M.) at Texas Tech. LCU was scheduled to play at home Saturday against Bethany, Okla. based Southwestern Christian University, but weather and unplayable conditions led to the game's cancellation.
• LCU has played one game since Sept. 15. The Chaps have played the least (5) amount of games amongst conference squads. Newman leads conference programs in games played with nine.
• The Heartland Conference awarded Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors to Lubbock Christian University's
Lennard Hansen for his efforts in LCU's 6-3 win Thursday over Texas-Permian Basin. Hansen, a junior and transfer from Salem International University, recorded a hat trick in the 6-3 non-conference victory on the road. The Gottingen, Germany native became just the second individual in program history to record at least three goals in a game for the Chaps, as he completed the task on as many shot attempts. Former Chap
Billy Forbes had three games with at least three goals or more, marking Hansen's hat trick as the fourth recorded in program history. The award is the first received by Hansen and the first received by a Chaps member this season.
• With 8 points on the season, Hansen ranks tied for fifth in the Heartland Conference. He leads the conference in goals per game (1, tied for 12th nationally) and ranks second in points per game (2). His four goals on the season ranks tied for third in the conference.
• LCU has been out-shot 98-75 this season, but LCU has a 39-34 advantage on the season in shots on goal. LCU has a .520 percent mark of shots on target compared to a .347 mark by the opposition.
• The Chaps have received goals from seven different players this season, with six players scoring one goal on the year.
• Looking back at their last game, LCU's six goals (in a 6-3 win) tied the program's second highest single game mark for goals (fifth time), and they had five assists off the goals, which tied for third most in program history (third time). The combo equaled 17 points for the fourth most in LCU history. The last time LCU scored six goals in a game was on Oct. 26 at McMurry.
SCOUTING ENMU• The Greyhounds are 3-5-1 this season after a 2-0 road win at Southwest (N.M.) Tuesday.
• ENMU is 1-2-0 on the road this season. The meeting is the second game of a four-game road trip for the 'Hounds.
• In goal for ENMU is freshman James Gutierrez, who enters with a 1.11 GAA, .814 save percentage and 35 saves. His save percentage is currently the highest ever by a Greyhound goalkeeper in a season.
• Senior midfielder Abayneh Crosby leads the team with three goals, having scored once in the past three contests. His scoring streak is the fourth longest in program history and he can match Ryan McClanahan (2007) and Emerson Rodrigues (2009) for the second longest streak with a score on Thursday. Former Greyhound Kal Herbert set the team record with a goal in six straight games last season.
• ENMU is 1-3-1 against Heartland Conference foes this season. The lone win was a 3-1 win on Sept. 27 against Oklahoma Christian to begin their current two-game win streak.
SERIES HISTORY WITH ENMU• ENMU leads the all-time series with a 2-1-1 mark.
• The last meeting was the season finale last season in Lubbock (Nov.7), with ENMU winning 4-0.
• The teams are 1-1-0 in games in the series played in Lubbock and the winning team has won via shutout in each game.
