LUBBOCK, Texas (October 2, 2014) – It is Heartland Conference season for the Chaparrals and Falcons, as Lubbock Christian University and University of Texas of the Permian Basin open conference play with a 2:30 p.m. tilt Monday afternoon at LCU Soccer Field.
CHAPS FLIGHT DECK• The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals are 2-3-1 on the season after a 2-2 draw with Eastern New Mexico on Thursday.
• The Chaps are 3-0-1 in conference openers in their program history.
• LCU, 5-3-1 in home games last season, is 0-1-1 at home this season and 21-9-5 all-time at home.
STORY LINES• The Chaparrals played their first game on the pitch of the LCU Soccer field Thursday. The game resulted in a 2-2 tie for the first draw of the season and the 10th in program history. It was their first overtime result since Sept. 14, 2013 (against Huston-Tillotson at home). LCU is 6-1-10 all-time in overtime contests and 2-1-5 all-time at home.
• LCU went 8-1-0 in conference play last season, which was their first season in the Heartland Conference. They 21-12-4 all-time in conference play. Former Chap
Billy Forbes led LCU in conference scoring with 23 points (8g,7a) last season.

Mbongeni Ndlovu each had four points to mark as the returning leaders in conference scoring.
• The Heartland Conference awarded Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors to Lubbock Christian University's
Lennard Hansen for his efforts in LCU's 6-3 win Thursday (Sept. 25) over Texas-Permian Basin. Hansen, a junior and transfer from Salem International University, recorded a hat trick in the 6-3 non-conference victory on the road. The Gottingen, Germany native became just the second individual in program history to record at least three goals in a game for the Chaps, as he completed the task on as many shot attempts. Billy Forbes had three games with at least three goals or more, marking Hansen's hat trick as the fourth recorded in program history. The award is the first received by Hansen and the first received by a Chaps member this season.
• Thursday's 2-2 draw against ENMU was very aggressive and the teams combined for 39 fouls, which is a program record for single game combination of two teams. LCU was whistled 21 times for fouls, which is the most since they had 25 against Northwood (Texas) on Sept. 12, 2012. There were nine cautions handed out (five yellow cards against LCU), tying a LCU program record for the most cautions issued in one game for combined teams (matched a game against University of the Southwest on Sept. 24, 2010).
• LCU has been out-shot 116-95 this season, but LCU has a 48-40 advantage on the season in shots on goal. LCU has a .505 percent mark of shots on target compared to a .345 mark by the opposition.
• The Chaps have received goals from seven different players this season, with three players scoring at least two goals on the year.
Tommy Fogarty-Cameron has two goals on two shots on goal.
• Of the 26 combined goals in LCU games this season, 19 of the goals have come in the second half.
SCOUTING UTPB• The Falcons are 1-5-1 this season after a 4-0 loss to Midwestern State at home Oct. 2.
• UTPB is 1-1-0 on the road this season. Their lone win on the season occurred on the road: a 2-1 road win at Adams State on Sept. 12.
• The Heartland Conference preseason poll had UTPB ranked sixth in the conference following an 8-9-1 season last year. They went 4-4-1 last season in conference play.
• Nathan Cotterell leads the Falcons in goals (4), points (8) and has 23 of the team's 40 shots on goal.
• UTPB has been out-shot 71-37 in shots (40-15 in shots on goal) in the first half of games this season.
SERIES HISTORY WITH UTPB• LCU has a 3-0-0 all-time series advantage over UTPB
• The two teams are meeting for a second time this season. LCU defeated UTPB 6-3 on Sept. 25 in Odessa, with three straight second half goals proving the difference.
• LCU and UTPB were scheduled for a non-conference and conference game last season. LCU won both contests 3-0.
