CHAPS FLIGHT DECK• The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals play their final home game Thursday hosting West Texas A&M.
• Lubbock Christian heads into Thursday's contest 8-5-1 after a 3-2 overtime win on the road Monday at Dallas Baptist University.
• LCU, 5-3-1 in home games last season, is 2-3-1 at home this season and 23-11-5 all-time at home.
STORY LINES• The Chaparrals have 50 all-time wins, as their win Monday was the 50th in program history.
• LCU is fourth in the Heartland Conference in goals per game with an average of 2.29 per game. The mark is the second best scoring pace in program history. The top mark was a pace of 2.48 goals per game from 2011.
• Lubbock Christian is represented with two players in the top-10 in conference scoring, as
Lennard Hansen is third in scoring with 21 points (9g,3a) and
Tommy Fogarty-Cameron has 14 points (6g,2a) (entered the week ranking tied for ninth).
• LCU is 6-0-0 on the season when leading at the half, but they are a combined 2-5-1 when tied or trailing at the half.
• Chap goalkeepers have combined for 4.71 saves per game this season, which currently stands as a second best single-season program mark for saves per game (current best is 4.76 saves per game from 2010).
• When it comes to game winning goals, LCU has received game winning goals from eight different individuals and no players has more than one on their resume this season.
• Thursday's game is Senior Day. There are four players who will be suited up for their final LCU home game. They included starting seniors
Stewart MacDonell and
Tim Saucedo and reserves
Cole Stuart and
David Dykstra.
• Monday,
Lennard Hansen recorded a hat trick against Dallas Baptist and it was his second of the season. His against DBU is the fifth recorded in program history, and only two different Chap individuals (
Billy Forbes the other) have recorded a hat trick in program history. Two of the goals were assisted by
Mitchell Hopkins for a two-assist performance, which is his second of the season and matches a program single game record (20th time completed).
• Hansen's third goal Monday capped an overtime victory for LCU. It was LCU's eighth all-time overtime goal (now 8-1-10 all-time in overtime games) and the second this season (2-0-1 in overtimes this season). Their prior overtime game winning goal was scored by
Mbongeni Ndlovu in the Chaps first conference road game this season (at Texas A&M International).
SCOUTING WTAMU• The Buffs enter their contest with a 9-6-1 overall record.
• WTAMU is 5-1-1 this season on the road following a 1-0 win in Hays, Kan. over No.22 Fort Hays State on Sunday. It was their first win against a ranked opponent this season (1-3-0).
• Seven of the last eight WT games have been decided by a goal or less.
• The Buffs have already secured their 22nd consecutive non-losing season under head coach Butch Lauffer, and can record their 21st double-digit win season in the program's 24-year existence with a win Thursday.
• West Texas A&M has outscored opponents 17-6 in the first half and has helped them to a 9-0-0 record when scoring first (0-6-0 when allowing the opening goal).
• Vitor Cardoso has 16 points (6g,4a) to lead the Buffs offense. He also co-leads the team with two game winning goals.
SERIES HISTORY WITH WTAMU• WTAMU leads the all-time series 1-0-0 against LCU.
• The only prior regular season meeting came Sept. 16, 2013, with LCU falling 4-1 in Canyon.
• This meeting will mark the first meeting between the two programs in Lubbock.
