WEATHERLUBBOCK, Texas (September 14, 2014) – Damp and cool conditions continue in the area, but Lubbock Christian University plans to return to LCU Soccer Field Sunday to host Western State Colorado University at 1 p.m.
LADY CHAPS FLIGHT DECK• The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals are 3-0-0 this season after completing a 1-0 win Friday. The Lady Chaps played their game at Lubbock High School's Chapman Field.
• The Lady Chaps are seeking a four-game win streak to open the season.
• LCU is 2-0-0 at home this season and 13-4-2 all-time in home games under head coach

STORY LINES• The season mark's the fifth season of LCU women's soccer. Including this season, LCU has started 3-0 or better in three of the seasons. LCU opened 2010 6-0-0 and 2012 12-0-0. The 12-0 mark in 2012 to start the season was the best start by an NAIA program that season, as they were the last NAIA program to suffer a loss or tie.

Brooke Wendl received recognition for a solid opening week of play, as the Lady Chaps forward was named Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week Wednesday. Wendl notched 11 points (4 goals, 3 assists) in two games. In the season opener against Southwest (N.M.), she set the program single-game record for points with eight points coming off her first collegiate hat trick and two assists. The three goals and two assists also matched the program single-game record in each of the categories. She followed the record performance with a three-point game at Wayland Baptist (1 goal, 1 assist), which included the game winning goal. The junior from Plano, Texas is LCU's career leader in goals (28) and points (74). She is the Heartland Conference's first recipient of the award this season and this marks the second time she has received the honor.
• LCU has 10 goals in their two home games this season. They scored 14 goals all of last season at home.

Brooke Wendl has the game winning goal in the last two LCU games. She increased her program career lead in game winning goals to nine.
• Wendl, who had five goals all of last season, has five goals through three games and has scored at least one goal in each game. The last time she had three consecutive games with a goal was in 2012 when she had a goal in each of the opening nine games of the season.
• The Lady Chaps have 13 goals so far on the young season. The 13 goals in three games is the second most goals scored through an opening three-game stretch to begin a season. In 2010, LCU opened the season with 20 goals in the first three games.
• LCU has an active shutout sequence of 212:31. Goalkeeper
Lauren Story has an active shutout sequence of 190:15. She has back-to-back shutouts, which has extended her program career leading mark to nine.
SCOUTING WSCU• The Mountaineers are 2-0-1 to start the season and are coming in following a 0-0 scoreless double overtime tie at Midwestern State.
• Western State is playing their final game of a four-game road trip to open the season. They do not play their first home game until Sept. 19.
• They went 6-10-2 last season and are preseason picked No.10 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
• Francesca Rand leads the Mountaineers with four points off a pair of goals.
• WSCU is 1-0-0 this season against Heartland Conference foes. They defeated Rogers State 4-0 on Sept. 7 in a neutral site game in Denver. They held RSU to one shot on frame.
• This is the final non-conference game for the Mountaineers before they open up RMAC play on Sept. 19 against Metro State.
SERIES HISTORY WITH WSCU• This meeting marks the first all-time meeting between the two programs.
• LCU is 1-0-0 all-time against RMAC opponents after defeating Adams State 1-0 Friday.
